Are 5 syllable baby names pretentious?

Not do keen on Cassiopeia as I just think of the constellation, but the other 3 are fine.

I don’t think they’re pretentious as such, if there’s a reason why you want to choose a Greek (or whatever) name. They’ll inevitably be shortened, anyway.

Anastasia is my favourite from your list

I prefer Alexandrina to Alexandria

I also quite like Eleonora

I like them. I know two Alexandrias who both go by completely different nicknames and I think that’s one of the nice things about a longer name- you can choose a shorter variation to go by from a few different options!

Anastasia is fine but not 5 syllables when I say it. The others are a bit pretentious in my mind so not really my taste.

I preferred names that couldn’t be shortened.

I like Cassiopeia.

DD is Leopoldina and DD2 is Maximiliana. We wanted simple, easy-to-spell names that work internationally. They never have the name shortened.

I like Anastasia but I think in practice many people elide some of the syllables. It then becomes a bit like Ann-ah-stay-sha

As a Hamilton fan, I do quite like Theodosia. Love the song dear Theodosia

Me too. Though she was famously vain, so it’s not the nicest name in terms of its mythological baggage.

I voted no, not because I think they're pretentious, I just don't like names that are more than 3 syllables. Just feel a bit clunky to say imo

I like Alexandra better than Alexandria. Alexandra was a queen. Alexandria is a seaport in Egypt.

It will only be a baby name for a year or so. Then it will be the name of a child, an adolescent and a grown up person.

They'll end up being called Cassie Alex Anna and Thea anyway so why give them such complicated names to learn to spell?

Alexandr(i)a is quite easy once you know the sounds. All the letters do what they're supposed to do. Al-ex-and-ra/ri-a. Names like Courtneigh are more difficult.

Oddly, we know two youngish Anastasias. One pronounces it An-AST-a-see-yah. The other just uses Nan.
