Came across this name yesterday. Not remotely pregnant but I thought it was really lovely.
Do you like it?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PrettyLittleRose · 16/07/2026 22:41

Are you Argentinian?

timoteigirl · 16/07/2026 22:45

Not heard this before. Storybook name. Cool.

St Casilda of Toledo was a Moorish princess who later converted to Christianity. Her name may be of Germanic origin (partly derived from the element hild "battle"), or it may be an hispanization of an Arabic name such as Qasida ("ode; messenger").

Fridgedooropen · 16/07/2026 22:47

It's not for me. Too close to Hilda

NotMyRealAccount · 16/07/2026 23:02

There's a Casilda in The Gondoliers so people might make assumptions about your musical taste. I like it, though I don't think I'd have been brave enough to choose a name that's quite so unusual.

JustGiveMeReason · 16/07/2026 23:26

Not for me.

Has the vibe of a medical cream.

Eggybreadwithnuts · 16/07/2026 23:29

First impression sounds likes a STD then sort of rhymes with dildo 🤦‍♀️

7238SM · 16/07/2026 23:30

At first reading, I read Candida! Yuck!
No, I don't like it.

ButtercupYellow26 · 17/07/2026 00:13

No I don't like it at all.

Not for me.

Has the vibe of a medical cream.

🤣 Casilda and her sister Canesten perhaps?

TheCurious0range · 17/07/2026 00:20

Sounds like a name for one of the ugly sisters in panto

EnidVance · 17/07/2026 13:08

No I don’t like it.

pinkflamingoestweet · 17/07/2026 13:39

Love it! My DD has a Spanish friend called Casilda and her parents call her Cass quite often.

ShetlandishMum · 17/07/2026 14:17

No.

timoteigirl · 17/07/2026 16:00

Can't believe so many dislike it. It is more like Mafalda or Matilda than Canesten!

Butterflybluebell · 17/07/2026 17:17

I don't like it at all to be honest

Giraffehaver · 17/07/2026 22:16

Ha! Beautiful 3 yr old in my chemist. Her dad is Spanish. I thought it was charming

It's a very beautiful Spanish name with an interesting history.

Coralsunset · 19/07/2026 12:35

No I don’t. It sounds like an ointment of some kind to me. Sorry!

NChangeorama · 19/07/2026 12:43

sounds Like being unable to choose between Cassandra and Matilda, both of which are names I would not saddle a child with.

Purplecatshopaholic · 19/07/2026 12:58

Hmm, not a fan. Sounds like one parent wanted Cassandra, the other wanted Hilda, so they compromised.

Calliopespa · 19/07/2026 23:29

I thought it was an amalgam (Cassie and Matilda? Cassandra and Hilda?) when I read it, but that was obviously my ignorance.

DramaAlpaca · Yesterday 00:22

'Casilda of the Rising Moon' was one of my favourite books as a child.

I always thought that it's a beautiful name.
