I love Joseph and nn Joe is cute

Stephen - not keen on the Catholic(?) spelling as my school pall was called 'Step-Hen' by one of the teachers who thought they were being funny and it stuck forever more!

Johnathan is great too if you're ok with nn Johnny.

I know a few Jonathans who use their full name, some Jonny's, Jonty's, Jonnos and one who goes by Nate which I always thought was pretty cool! Most are adults, feels uncommon for littlest which makes it refreshing.

Think it's a lovely name! Personally prefer it to Stephen/Steve or Joseph/Joe. I quite like Seph though.

I like all of them but wouldnt use Joseph in fear that he would become Joey.

Els1e · 14/07/2026 23:51

For me. Jonathan

LivingTheDreamish · 15/07/2026 00:39

Joseph.

LilyLemonade · 15/07/2026 00:46

They are all nice. I would maybe go for Stephen as it is not so common nowadays.

DramaAlpaca · 15/07/2026 00:52

Ooh, three nice traditional choices, all of which are lovely.

I love Joseph and Stephen but the diminutives not so much, so for me they are middle name territory. One of my own sons has one of them as his middle name.

I really like Jonathan, good name with nice diminutives. It's my favourite of the three. He can go by Jon, Jonny, Jonty - all good. Even Nate as someone said above.

And I'm so glad you know how to spell it; 'Johnathan' is an absolute travesty.

Jonathan is fine but don’t like Johnny which he might end up being!

ImpossibleThursday · 15/07/2026 12:28

DragonmotherKhaleesi · 15/07/2026 12:32
