thoughts on all “s” names?

I loooove name alliterations, our last name is Stock. I like Soren, Sawyer, Scottie for boys & Sienna, Sally, Sylvie, Susie, Sunny for girls. Is having all names starting with S overkill? I like individual name alliterations but I don’t know if I like all the sibling names starting with the same letter. I’m struggling with our last name because it’s so harsh & I love sweet, gentle names. Idk, open to new names, I just don’t like a name ending in s or one syllable like james stock.

SS does have a certain negative ring to it...

Scottie Stock is way too much of a tongue twister.

I think Sally Stock and Susie Stock sound like cartoon characters. Sienna would be fine, or even something like Sydney.

We have an S surname and two of my favourite names are Sydney and Stella, but wasn’t going to use them to avoid alliteration!

Yes, I have to say that I would also avoid SS as initials.

There are lots of celebrities with ss initials, i doubt it's a real life issue. E.g. Sarah Silverman, Sarah Snook, Sadie Sink, Susan Sontag, Susan Sarandon etc.

I think your girl names work, your boy names aren't my cup of tea. Maybe Sebastian? I think Sonny is more of a boy's name.

I love alliteration in a name, they're fun to say and make me smile.

Really love your girls names and quite like your boy names too, I prefer Sunny for a boy though, If I'd had a 3rd son I would like to have called him this (though I doubt I'd have been allowed!).

Sally Stock and Susie Stock do sound a bit like fictional characters like someone else said but I like it. They're punchy memorable names. I wonder if they may often get called by both their names to be honest because they sound so fun.

The only issue I would think about is it will become difficult to know whose post/parcels are for who. If you have 2 males or 2 females with an S. Stock name.

How often, if ever do we right just our initials? So I don't think SS is an issue at all and many people won't know what that is anyway.

We were warned off having alliterative first/surnames but went with it. DS thinks it makes him a super hero, like Peter Parker or Bruce Banner.

I hear multiple people in the house having the initials can get confusing when they start to get mail.

I like Susie but would go with Susannah Stock “Susie”, sounds more elegant.

I think its better with more syllables, Susannah Stock sounds better than susie stock. Look at 3 syllable names. Scottie is just awful , rule that out

My sister had an SJS. She's 13 now and no-one has mentioned the SS.

The SS were notorious officers in Hitler's Nazi regime. But I don't think it will be an issue, especially if a middle (non-S)nname is added

OP I love the name Sylvie. Sylvie or Sylvia Stock is lovely.

How about Seren or Serena? I agree with others that a 3-syllable name like Serena, Sylvia, Susannah, Sofia might work well.

I agree, that if choosing an S name your surname goes best with a three syllable name like ..

If you don't want the SS initials you might like names with SS in the middle like ..

Or names with the CK sound included like ..

I think a family full of Xs is really naff, double points for firsts and last name, but you go for it, and hope you don't get a lisper.

My first thought was hissing sid or sammy snake.

But useful if you get cheques for DC who you keep forgetting to open a bank account for 😂

I know a family of 6 who have exactly this (alliteration and all siblings with the same letter) and people comment on it, negatively. The Duggar family were bad enough with their J names and even they didn't alliterate.

It sounds like you’re naming puppies or a collection of dolls. Each of the children will be their own person and personality. They aren’t a litter, but individuals. Just give them names you like and feel will serve them well throughout their lives, not just as babies or children.

Sorry that sounds harsh, but I think a lot of people feel the same - however, nobody will say it to your face in real life.

I have the same first initial/surname as DBro, and first initial, middle initial and surname as DH and DD. Post has never been a problem!!
