Eleanora
Elenora
Ellenora
Ellinora
Elinora

I think we settled on this name for our daughter but im torn on the spelling. I know most people will probably say Eleanora is best but I just worry some people not familiar with the name Eleanor will mispronounce it as Ell-ee-a-nora and it’s pronounced Ella-nora so im leaning towards a different spelling. Does any of these stand out as the best way to spell it?

Elenora for me.

Eleanora. At 4 syllables it will be shortened and Ellie names have been done to death.

Just Eleanor is better.

Elenora for me - I would pronounce that “Ellen-ora”

All of those I would say Ellen- ora.

if you really want Ellie-Nora then you will have to hyphenate it.

Eleanora for me. But it will be shortened to the ubiquitous Ellie regardless.

Eleanora is the only one that looks right imo. Don’t dumb it down just because some people “might” mispronounce it. Surely Eleanor is common enough (and this is the most known spelling) that most will automatically say it like that, but with an a at the end?

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · Today 18:55

Elenora or Elinora

I would use the correct spelling (Eleanora) and accept that you may need to explain how to pronounce it occasionally. Why dumb down a pretty and traditional name?

Leonora is another option that may solve your pronunciation concerns, but Eleanora is gorgeous. Also I would push for Nora as a nickname rather than the ubiquitous Ellie (I know you can't control these things!).
