Manon - Welsh pronunciation? Is this very marmite?

I’d never heard of it until I moved to Wales. Not my favourite name.

I thought it was a French name. I pronounce it like 'non' in French without the 'n' sound at the end. Anyway, it's my best friend's name so I like it!

I would assume French pronunciation. What's the Welsh pronunciation?

HoldMyWine · Yesterday 21:22

I don’t know what the pronunciation is. Man-on? I like it

One of my favourites, along with angharad.

MAN-on in Welsh. It is a Welsh name as well as French. I don’t know many who are children, lots aged around 30-35.

Lovely name and not overused.

I love it. Live in Wales so slightly biased. Super-easy to pronounce compared to some Welsh names.

MAH-non - the inference is always on the penultimate syllable in Welsh and in a short name then sometimes it is the first vowel! I don't think anyone gets too excited about it though. Gorgeous name - beautiful queen! Not surprised people are confused by the French because Welsh and French are Brythonic languages - we have the same word for bridge after all! I'm a Rhian (also a queen!)... and have to remind people that the Rhi is the stressor!
