We have a DS already called Joseph, we mainly call him Joey. We really like the name Michael nn Mikey for DS2, but when I told family they said it was dated. Wdyt of Michael for a brother for Joseph?.

Well it hasn't been used much since when I was a girl when we had quite a few Michaels.

But to me it is classic and has been "on the shelf" waiting to garner attention again.

For me something truly "dated" pins you to particular era and isn't a name that has come in and out through the generations. Like Brenda.

It is a name that has been used for centuries and I rather like it. To be honest, Joseph was in a similar space a few years back, and is slowly coming back. I just think you are ahead of the curve!

Everything @Calliopespa said.

Michael is a lovely, classic name, similar to Joseph, not of a particular time at all.
I really like it.

I’m so glad you all agree, I thought exactly the same, it seems timeless and classic to me but I think my parents grew up with a lot of Michael’s so maybe it doesn’t sound as new as other names to them.

Love it, alot.

Love it, it’s a really nice name. You don’t hear it much nowadays which is good.

TomatoSandwiches · Yesterday 19:38

Reminds me of Michael Jackson and his father Joe.

I think it’s lovely. I love classic names especially ones you don’t hear all the time anymore. My son is called something similar.

Thebinisrightthere · Yesterday 19:43

Mikey is very sweet but good for an adult too

I think Peter and John are due a comeback. Either of those?

Patrick?

I'll take Michael over Alfie or Archie or Wilfred or Albert any day of the week! Much more elegant.

Iamanunsafebuilding · Yesterday 20:28

Michael Joseph is my DS’s name, I like both!

Meredusoleil · Yesterday 20:29

I just think of the Jackson father and son combo 😉

mumofoneAloneandwell · Yesterday 20:30

Those are my two favourite boys names 😄🥰

My lifelong best friend is Michael Joseph and if i ever have another son he will be named after him. The names really go together and are nice at any stage of life.

That’s my thinking, we liked Billy but I’m not a fan of William. Whereas I love Joey and Mikey together for little boys but if they want to sound more serious as adults they have the options of Joe, Joseph, Mike and Michael.

I do like Peter, John and Patrick as well! But Michael is definitely my favourite. Also love Christopher and Nicholas, I think I need to have 20 more boys to use all my favourite names😂

Great name and goes will with Joseph

Firebird83 · Yesterday 21:21

Lovely. DS has a Michael in his Year 3 class so it’s still being used.

Giraffehaver · Yesterday 21:41

Great combo for brothers. Both really lovely names

Whatisityoucantface · Yesterday 21:53

It’s a great name. I just like Michael and I’m not keen on Mike or Mikey - I think they look more ugly written down?? But Mikey is quite cute for a little one. I prefer Gabriel (Gabe) which I think is a similar vibe name

Unexpectedlysinglemum · Yesterday 22:56

It’s lovely and both biblical so match

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · Yesterday 22:59

Good Choice I think.
