Bloom as a middle name?

trendy or pretty?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Imaginingdragonsagain · 30/05/2026 09:52

I wouldn’t use it as a first name, but middle names are rarely heard, so if you like it go with it.

LlynTegid · 30/05/2026 09:53

No.

BombayMixIsTheBestMix · 30/05/2026 09:54

Sorry it sounds like a euphemism for getting your period. See also Blossom.

Mydogisagentleman · 30/05/2026 09:54

Not for me. Your choice though. Our DD has two middle names. Never needed to use them

sprigatito · 30/05/2026 09:56

As a middle name I think it’s cool and cute. Middle names are where you can be a bit daft and creative imo, as disclosing them is optional.

IwouldifIcouldreachit · 30/05/2026 09:57

Neither trendy nor pretty, but if you like it, that's all that matters.

Greenfingers37 · 30/05/2026 10:06

Our 1 year old granddaughter is called Bloom. It was a shock at first 🤣 but we think it’s lovely now. If you like it, go for it! What are you thinking for her first name?

Drivingmissrangey · 30/05/2026 10:07

Bloomin’ heck. You can’t be serious.

BatchCookBabe · 30/05/2026 10:07

A huge and very hard NO. Awful name. 😖

SlightlyAjar · 30/05/2026 10:09

For me, it’s less imagining a flower unfurling petals than ‘That’s a blooming nuisance’ or bloomers. I think it’s an unpleasant sound. It’s also the Irish equivalent of the Chelsea Flower Show.

AgentPidge · 30/05/2026 10:14

No. See comments above. What's wrong with a flower? You could go for Rose or Jasmine, or something fabulous like Dahlia or Fuchsia.

Megifer · 30/05/2026 10:15

Neither 😂

KilkennyCats · 30/05/2026 10:16

It’s genuinely terrible

Excited101 · 30/05/2026 10:18

I mean, it’s not a name- it’s a word.

cinquanta · 30/05/2026 10:33

Bloom as in the white stuff on old chocolate?

AllTheTreesOfTheField · 30/05/2026 10:34

As long as the surname isn't Ineck

Brainstorm23 · 30/05/2026 10:50

It's not a name! I'd also think you were a fan of Ulysses by James Joyce.

Mould on top of jam jar which isn't properly sealed?

faerylune · 30/05/2026 10:59

I don't mind Bloom as middle name, but prefer Blossom

user293948849167 · 30/05/2026 11:09

Trendy and pretty I would say. I usually like more traditional names but I do quite like Bloom

NamingNoNames · 30/05/2026 11:28

Pretty awful.

WeAreNotOutnumbered · 30/05/2026 11:30

It might be the country where i am from but 'to bloom' means to lose your virginity.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 30/05/2026 11:35

It’s hideous. I don’t mind Blossom or there are lots of girls flower names that would be better…

IsadoraQuagmire · 30/05/2026 11:54

Brainstorm23 · 30/05/2026 10:50

It's not a name! I'd also think you were a fan of Ulysses by James Joyce.

That's exactly what I'd think.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 30/05/2026 13:04

Makes me think of bloomers
I would suggest -
blossom, bluebell, Luna, Louise, Blanca, Blanche, blue ivy
as alternatives
