Bloom as a middle name?

trendy or pretty?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes, but if it was an unfortunate surname he could have used a stage name.
If he or another Mr Bloom had a child with someone and they named the baby Noah/Amelia Bloom Jones or something it would be OK.

Smith & many other names are 'ok' surnames, it doesn't mean I think they're great first names.

i think it's a ridiculous name, that's MY opinion we don't need to agree 🌷

During its first season in 2004, the series became one of the highest-rated programs on Rai 2 with an average audience share of 17%. Among viewers 4–14 years old, the average share was 45%.

this hardly makes it a 'top show' for adults & if that's the best known one you can think of I don't see why the name would be well known.

I'm not interested in arguing either point with you.

My opinion is that it's a ridiculous name for a child. We don't have to agree 🌷

That was the original… the new Winx Saga is a Netflix show that has over 57million views.

@MeltyMomenrs , as a first or middle name I agree with you. I feel the same about Rae.

Another one here who thinks bloomers!

Is there a reason op? If it was your granny's maiden name or similar I could follow the reasoning more.

It isn't awful, but in the absence of a compelling reason to use it, I'd choose something less like an air freshener brand name.

It’s completely fine. I might assume it was a heritage surname being used as a middle name, though.

I think of it as a surname too - I’d assume it was a mother’s maiden name used as a middle name.

That reminds me, Bloomsday is coming up!

It would sound like a surname. Because it is.

If I'm being honest it was the first word that entered my head. I'd be afraid it would end up as a nickname 🤔

I remember that and I think it was one of the talking vegetables that was vaguely sexy? Could it have been the aubergine?

Magsbd · 31/05/2026 17:40

No. I think it’s a bit silly as a name. Sorry.

Mr Bloom was vaguely sexy but I can't remember a sexy vegetable

I think it was Sebastian the singing aubergine I vaguely fancied.

I mean we are talking post natal blur trying to entertain toddler while breastfeeding a newborn so a vegetable puppet probably seemed non-threatening to my post-natal libido. But the memory is definitely stirring something vaguely erotic...

It's not a name! I'd also think you were a fan of Ulysses by James Joyce.

Actually it IS a surname for a displaced Jewish Dubliner!
Or a curmudgeonly American literary critic.

No.
