Deciding between Rufus or Robert/Bobby.
Initially wanted something a bit unusual but then unsure if classic better.
(sibling has been randomly calling him Bobby which is where that came from).
please help.
Thanks in advance

I prefer Rufus. It’s probably more marmite but I love it and robert feels a bit dated imo. Bobby is cute though a bit bland maybe?

ladygindiva · 29/05/2026 22:17

I voted Robert because I prefer it but they are both great names. Can I suggest Rupert as it's almost a hybrid of the two and is lovely x

Rufus is a ddog name.
Ruffie is a date rape drug..

How old is the sibling? It might be 'baby' said in a young child's way.
Is your surname something like Moore, Charlton or Robson?
Is there a cartoon character called Bobby?

Firebird83 · 30/05/2026 21:24

Definitely Robert!

Robert is a wonderful classic name. But call him Robert. Bobby is awful. You’ve picked a good name. Use it.

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · 30/05/2026 21:34

Rufus

Robert is boring. There are a lot of Bobbys in my kids’ classes and they are all awful.

DemBonesDemBones · 30/05/2026 21:39

Rufus is much nicer.

MirandaBlu · 30/05/2026 22:53

Rufus reminds me of the cool ex-indy-rocker dad on Gossip Girl. Since most of the cast have American accents they kept calling him Roo-fiss, though.

I like Rob or Robin better than Bobby as a short form of Robert.

Rufus gets my vote. Cute for a baby, can fit any life for a man
