If I HAD to, neither of the boy names are great, but slight preference towards Draco. Girls, Bellatrix.

Same here!

If I could choose any character I’d have Harry or Luna.

If Harry is off the table because it’s the main character and well, a pretty standard name - I’d choose George (which I know is still pretty standard 🤣)

One of mine already is but its a pretty run of the mill name.
I do like how half of them are called James and Dean and Susan and Lee, and the other half are called things like Nymphadora and Bellatrix and Draco. Would love to see the baby name discussions in the wizarding world. "We just can't decide between Xenophilius and Bill".

Hermione for a girl, James for a boy.

BrimfulofSacha · 29/05/2026 14:39

Ginevra is lovely but i don't like it shortened to Ginny.
Luna would go wonderfully with DD's name but very popular.
I always wanted Harry when DD16 was born, as it was a family name, but HP had already made it too popular by then.
Cho's mate was Marietta which is very pretty, and Astoria (Draco's wife), or Augusta (Neville's granny)

I find the male characters too normal or too out there. although Rubeus (Hagrid) is ok, and Cormac (one of the quidditch players)

Mumofgirls2017 · 29/05/2026 22:31

Luna, Harry, Cedric, Minerva, Rowena, Molly, Ginny, Fred, George, Percy, Peter, Remus

Love Cormac! And quite like Cornelius and Justin.

For a girl, probably Fleur, Ginevra, or maybe Lily - although I like Alecto, Angelina and Astoria as kind of "guilty pleasures" names.

I think it’s to do with the families wizarding beliefs?

A bit like a religious name?’

Hagrid

Hagrid is a surname.

My pick is Angelina after Gryffindor quidditch player Angelina Johnson.

PilatesAndLattes · 30/05/2026 14:33

Lucius and Arabella

sprigatito · 30/05/2026 14:35

I’d have to go for extravagant pureblood names, it’s no fun otherwise. Probably Abraxas for a boy, and Alecto for a girl.

wlw · 30/05/2026 14:36

I love the name Hermione but I think the connotations would be far too strong so I'd opt for Luna or Rowena (Ravenclaw). I think they're both gorgeous

I like Remus a lot for a boy. Or James

Harry or Ginny
