If I like these boys names, what girls names might I like?

We’re due a baby girl in October and for some reason we’re finding it much harder to come up with girls names we really love than we did for boys names.

Boys names I love:

Jolyon
Hughy
Ivo
Lucien
Monty
Jesse
Joss
Laurie

So I think I like quite artistic, floaty, creative names.

I quite like Matilda/Tilly and Cassie for a girl but not quite sure they’re the ones. Also like Hazel and flora/ nature inspired names.

Thanks for your help!

Hughy is an odd spelling. It's Hughie.

Jolyon - Julia
Hughy - Huguette
Ivo - Ivy, Ivana
Lucien - Lucy, Lucienne.
Monty- Matilda
Jesse- Jess, Jessica
Joss - Josceline
Laurie - Laura, Lauren

I suspect you want the air of those name and they don't really come across as
artistic, floaty, creative

Neither do Matilda/Tilly, Cassie, Hazel and flora/nature inspired names.

Suggestions:
Candida
Flora
Bryony
Cicely
Aoede
Titania

Lovely suggestions so far, thank you! Definitely some I hadn’t considered.

What about Nina? My little girl is a Nina and we’ve had so many compliments on her name and it’s very uncommon Smile I still totally love it!

SeaBaseAlpha · 28/05/2026 13:08

Ottilie?

How about Lucinda? Jessamine? Laurel? Arabella? Jocinta? I think they have a similar style.

HazelnutRaspberryRoulade · 29/05/2026 11:25

Wow I really love some of these suggestions, and they’ve made me think I about other names I hadn’t considered as well. Bella really appeals today!

Thank you so much for the ideas.

Jessa?

Noideawhatiam · 29/05/2026 15:11

My son is Laurie and I love Lucien, Joss, Hughie and Monty.
My daughters are Annabelle and Felicity, also considered Evangeline and Alice.

HazelnutRaspberryRoulade · 29/05/2026 15:41

Jessa is actually so lovely. And I really love Annabelle and Alice but they’re very close family names so feels like they’re a bit off limits!

Evangeline is beautiful, I just wonder whether it would inevitably get shortened to Eva, and there are so many around our way.

I think the girls names you mention are lovely! I like Matilda, Cassie, Hazel and Flora. They're all good choices. I'd even go so far as to say they're much better than your boy list.
