Currently got 6 girl names we like however I like all of them 😅

It's between:

Amber
Imogen
Hattie
Hzel
Nina
Ivy

When I had my son 4 years ago I always said if we had a girl I'd want her to be called Ivy however it's now in the top 5 of girl names so it's throwing my husband off it 😂

Love Amber

CanterThroughChaos · 18/05/2026 16:30

Great names I love all of them, I think Hazel is my favourite ❤️

Peanutlicious · 18/05/2026 16:31

I like Ivy

I love Imogen from your list. Never taught one in 35 years of teaching. My adult DD has a friend named Imogen and she is lovely. Mainly known by her full name.

I’ve taught one Imogen ever and also went to school with one. I love the name. It was on of DH’s picks for us but it doesn’t sound fab with our surname unfortunately.

About ten years ago when I was pregnant there were alot of Imogens. To the point where every baby girl I knew was called Imogen, so to me it’s popular. Or at least when she grows up she’ll be the 10th Imogen at work (I say this as someone who works with at least 8 people with my name).

I don’t like Hazel at all, can’t understand its appeal and I hate Ivy. Plus there are soooo many of them and it just runs into all the Avas and Evies.

I really like Amber. I work with children and have only known one.

Imogen hasn't been too popular but it might have been regional.

Gorgeous names. I’d go Harriet (Hattie) Ivy.

DramaAlpaca · 18/05/2026 20:54

Imogen is lovely. I think it's the most 'sophisticated' on your list.

I find Nina a bit insubstantial and Amber is very 90s to me.

I like Ivy and Hazel.

Hattie is sweet but I'd go Harriet with the diminutive Hattie. I think that's my favourite, actually.

luckylavender · 18/05/2026 21:06

Imogen is my favourite & Hattie is nice too.

PennyLongLegs · 18/05/2026 21:11

Always put off by the name Ivy as it’s a poisonous plant and can be even irritating to touch! Obviously, people don’t tend to eat it, but dogs or cats can. My favourite is Hazel

Trampoline · 18/05/2026 21:15

They're all lovely names. Both of the teenage Imogen's I know get Immy. I know a Harrie who is Harriet but many Hatties are not christened Harriet. Hazel and Nina are probably the least common names right now, both lovely.

REDB99 · 18/05/2026 21:16

Nina is my least favourite of those. Imogen is lovely and timeless. Hazel nice too. There’s 3 Harriet’s in my DD’s class but I do like Hattie but wouldn’t have picked it myself.

PetrolKoala · 18/05/2026 21:44

Imogen. It’s a really nice name and not overused.

fyooshia · 18/05/2026 21:54

I knew an Imogen who was known as Mog to her family, but she decided on Imo, when she was going through an emo phase....

Like Ivy least, but Hazel, Nina and Imogen are great

Delici · 18/05/2026 21:58

I don’t see Imogen as sophisticated! (Sorry Imogen’s mum).

I’m not sure that any of them are sophisticated. Maybe Hattie if used as a nn for Harriet.

Shelleyblueeyes · 18/05/2026 22:03

I love Amber.

That was on my list for a girl.

I had 3 boys.

Nina, Amber, Imogen

user1492757084 · 19/05/2026 10:01

Harriet Amber - Hattie
Imogen Vera - IV - Ivy
Ida Vivienne

RegalDiamondMonster · 19/05/2026 15:14

Imogen is my favourite, followed by Nina and Amber.

LoudPlumDog · 19/05/2026 16:12

Nina without a doubt.

BearTail · 19/05/2026 16:14

I think Imogen and Nina are the nicest from this list

I do love Amber too but it’s a bit outdated now I feel and he others I don’t like at all sorry but saying that I get the sense we have overall different taste and can’t please everyone ☺️ so just pick what you like most!

All beautiful names. Hazel is the one we come across most often in our area, quite a number of Hazels in our friendship circle too. Ivy is our daughter's middle name, have come across two other Ivys but not as common round here as Hazel. We chose Ivy because of its Taylor Swift connection, I wanted our child to have a name song, though it's not her first name, and what a name song it is!
Having said all this, any of these names would be perfect for your beautiful baby girl. While it defeats the point of this forum and renders my own comment pointless, my best advice is never to consult anyone, whether it be grandparents or complete strangers on the internet, about your putative name choices. Wait until your perfect baby arrives and introduce her to your friends and family when her name is a fait accomplis. At this stage everyone is usually too tactful to criticise the name and, even if they are unsure at first, they will learn to love it because it belongs to your baby. You and your husband are the only people whose opinions count, just pick whichever name you like best, doesn't matter how popular or unpopular it is!
Wishing you and your family all the best.
