Middle name for baby girl

MissBxx · 18/05/2026 13:38

Hey

We currently only have 2 name options for our baby girl due in September and from the beginning I'd said I wanted to use Annie as her middle name to honour a family member, I'm now not 100% sure it goes with the names we have.

Mabel Annie
Marla Annie

Opinions welcome and any alternate suggestions 💗

Annie is a nice name I think it flows better with Marla but prefer Mable, however how likely is it that babies middle name will get used? If only on official documents I’d say go for it if you want to honour family member.

I think Mabel Annie flows better, and I prefer the name Mabel
She will hardly ever say her full name anyway so it doesn’t matter too much

Mabel is nicer and flows better with Annie- go for that!

Love Annie but not Mabel or Marla. Mabel is the better of the two.

Which goes better with the surname?

Edited

They both sound nice with the surname but I think Mabel potentially sounds better than Marla

The surname's not Cable or Mahler then.Smile

It's spelt Mabel. A common problem OP, if you choose it.

Sorry didn’t realise my mistake.

Mabel goes better with Annie but both of them are fine. It's lovely to honour a family member.
Choose the first name that you love the most as you will be using it every day.
You could always add a second middle name in-between Marla and Annie if you're not sure about the flow.

StationJack · 18/05/2026 16:48

@CieloElmers , it's a good thing that posters are misspelling it because it will happen IRL. OP will be aware of it and can decide if it will bother her.

I think Mabel Annie flows nicely.

Marla is a nice name but local accents can ruin it!

So true, I keep saying it out loud but imagining people with a thicker accent than mine is slightly off putting!

We know a baby with a similar name and the arl sound is absolutely massacred by the local accent here. The way her mother says it is lovely though.
