I'm sorry to disappoint but it was a joke related to the fact that on MN many of us dislike yoonique spellings.

The penny ought to have dropped once I told you my meaning if it didn't dawn on you when you were part way through your looooong didactic explanation of malady. Malady is not a particularly obscure word. The joke was simply that it sounds the same as Melody but the yoonique spelling takes it in another direction entirely.
