Hi, I am looking for a baby boys name. Our situation is that we are an Indian couple but we are living in Melbourne. My son will be spending his life here so have been thinking of giving him a western name. Any suggestions or balance between the two traditions will be welcome.

Give him whatever name you like. Don't give him a western name for the sake of it.
Melbourne is multi-cultural - an Indian name won't be unusual.

People are familiar with famous cricketers' names....

With British Indians I know these names seem popular

Arun
Jay
Reece
Adam
Dillon

Unless you meant Melbourne, Derbyshire, you are probably better off asking on a site in Australia.

An Indian couple giving their child an 'English' name (e.g. Noah or Oliver) would seem strange here, but I'm saying that as someone living in an area with a high British-Asian percentage.

Having said that I know an Indian national called George and an Indian who named his child after a cricketer from a different religion.
(Both of these struck me as unusual)
