LoudPlumDog · Yesterday 07:14

I only like Claudette and Lydia.

Leighton is male.
Layla is my dogs name and have met many dogs also called Layla.

Elsie and Mary are lovely. The rest is don't like at all.

keepswimming38 · Yesterday 07:19

Elsie and Lydia for me.

Myoldbear · Yesterday 07:46

Yet another vote for Lydia and Mary

There's something nice about Octavia, but with its meaning I would personally only use it if the number 8 was significant to me in some way; in history it was often the name of the 8th child!

Lydia best, then Mary. Don’t like any others.

Hope you like Jane Austen OP!

Elsie and Loretta are my favourites, Layla and Lydia are ok too. The rest I really don't like sorry.

Lydia dustbin

I know a Jana (adult) and no-one knows how to pronounce it. Some people use the J (jannah) and some people make it a y (yahna). She's given up and answers to anything.

Elsie is my favourite, but not keen on any of them. Horses for courses.

Leighton is a colleague's surname and people struggle with it. She gets called Leeton or it spelt Layton.

Totorosfluffytummy · Yesterday 10:50

Elsie & Jocelyn are both lovely names

BillieWiper · Yesterday 11:15

Alexis- absolutely love it. Definitely..😍
Claudette- too old fashioned
Elsie- yes, adore it. My fave 😍
Jana- not mad on it. Feel it would get mispronounced.
Jocelyn- cute. Quite like.
Layla- Not keen..
Leighton- sounds a bit American trailer park..
Loretta- no again similar to Claudette. To old fashioned and flouncy..
Lydia- not keen as had a bully called that..
Mary- bit boring. V traditional. Not too bad..
Octavia- quite like this but may date quite badly..
Whitney- definitely not. Sorry. Awful.

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · Yesterday 12:21

The only name I would consider from your list is Lydia. I don’t like any of the others.

Sidebeforeself · Yesterday 12:25

Xmasallergies · Yesterday 13:57

CeeJay81 · Yesterday 14:37

Lydia is my dds name and i love it. Dont understand why it isnt popular. Also like Elsie and Layla but they are much more common.

RomeWasVisitedInADay · Yesterday 15:20

Gosh that's quite the list! Congratulations and good luck!

Here's my thought, ranked, if of any interest:
Mary - Love, beautiful, simple, elegant
Layla - Love, people of a certain generation might sing a certain song to her!
Alexis - Love, slight worry about the Alexa things though
Leighton - Quite nice, some people hate this style of surname/boyish/unisex names though
Claudette - pretty, quite French, is it fashionable in France? Does that matter?
Elsie - boring, had its moment but it is sweet

Jocelyn - bit 50 year old lady, but I do like it.
Jana - It's ok, might get different pronunciations, also lady in her 50's vibes
Loretta - 50 year old woman again, but kind of nice
Octavia - Not much of a fan, I imagine she will be big into horses.
Lydia - really dislike this name for some reason, makes my skin crawl, no idea why and that is probably unique to me!
Whitney - awful, 1990's/00's Eastenders name!

Best to worst:

Lydia
Claudette
Loretta
Mary
Octavia
Elsie
Jocelyn
Layla
Jana
Alexis
Whitney
Leighton

Lydia, Claudette and Loretta are lovely. Mary, Octavia, Elsie and Jocelyn are fine.

Everything from Layla down is horrid, with a special hell reserved for Leighton which is just disastrous.

RomeWasVisitedInADay · Yesterday 15:31

Has no one heard of Leighton Meester? She's an actress in her own right but also married to the lovely chap from Nobody Wants This. Although I assumed it was unisex I'd err on the female side.

StationJack · Yesterday 15:38

Leighton Baines
Leighton Bennett
Leighton Denny
LeightonMoss
Leighton Buzzard

Leighton Baines
Leighton Bennett
Leighton Denny
LeightonMoss
Leighton Buzzard

Apart from Leighton Buzzard, I've never heard of any of those. Are they men? Women? Towns?

StationJack · Yesterday 16:09

Top 2 are sportsmen - former footballer and darts player.
Leighton Denny is the founder of a successful nail varnish company.
Leighton Moss is a nature reserve. Leighton Buzzard is in Bedfordshire.

Lovelyday63 · Yesterday 16:17

I’m not keen on any of your names sorry but definitely not Elsie or Mary.

Beachwalker66 · Yesterday 16:25
