which do you prefer between Hetty (with Henrietta as the official name) or Hattie (with Harriet as the official name).

I also like Lottie and Arrietta

Hetty

mathanxiety · 12/04/2026 00:10

I like them both.

I know a Hettie whose BC name is Harriet, just saying...

ArtemisNutella · 12/04/2026 00:14

Of the two full names I prefer Harriet, but of the two nicknames I prefer Hetty.
Overall from your choices I prefer Lottie (Charlotte).

Hetty all day long!

Steelworks · 12/04/2026 07:09

Hattie or Hetty could be nn for either Harriet or Henrietta, Also Etta has a nickname.

Lottie is a nickname for Charlotte.

Arietta is nice and unusual.

pambeesleyhalpert · 12/04/2026 07:10

I adore arietta with Etta as a NN

I love Lottie but don’t like Charlotte

Same- when I was pregnant I tried to find a longer version of lottie I love it but don’t like Charlotte

GreenMarigold · 12/04/2026 07:15

Hettie is gorgeous. I also like Dottie (short for Dorothy) and Lettie, but not so keen on Letitia and definitely not Lettice.

I’ve known some rather catty Hatties so not a huge fan!

ThunderCatsHooo · 12/04/2026 07:30

I like Harriet, there's one in my child's class at school, I don't really like it shortened to hattie though. Why not just go with Harriet and use their full name, I'd have never thought of shortening it to Hattie, it's a pretty name in full.

TulipsMakeMeHappy · 12/04/2026 07:32

I like both so didn't vote. Probably as I know one of each and they are both nice!

Zuve · 12/04/2026 07:33

Hetti is cool but so is Hatty.

MrsDoylesTeacup · 12/04/2026 08:54

I wouldn’t choose Hetty, it’s the pink Henry Hoover!

pouletvous · 12/04/2026 09:05

Harriet nn Hattie or Harry

Calliopespa · 12/04/2026 21:38

Hattie!

Don't think the others are as nice. Lottie is very tired and a bit Clottie-Lottie.

Ikeameatballs · 12/04/2026 21:41

Hattie by miles!

I like Lottie and Lotta, can be short for Carlotta as well as Charlotte.

Firebird83 · 13/04/2026 10:16

Hetty. I prefer Henrietta to Harriet

YorkshireIndie · 13/04/2026 10:22

Hetty! Just been listening to a book series and the lead was Henrietta. You could also use Hetta as a nickname

SausageRoll2020 · 13/04/2026 10:24

Harriet is a short form of Henrietta anyway so choose Henrietta and then you have the full cohort of nicknames to choose whichever suits her best

TheCurious0range · 13/04/2026 10:25

Hattie, Hetty is a hoover

SummerFrog2026 · 13/04/2026 10:25

If you got for either of the H names, you can shorten them to your preference. But be aware friends will chose their own she'll likely end up being Hets or Hats. Mind you same with Lottie being Lots & Arietta being 'Ari'

you have a very short window in their lives when you can push for what everyone calls them (even then some people will still deviate)

just choose what you like as her proper name on school records & try to avoid any unfortunate initials etc

muddyford · 13/04/2026 10:29

I love Hester.

HortiGal · 13/04/2026 10:30

Love Hettie rather than with the Y

bugalugs45 · 13/04/2026 10:31

Hettie makes me think of the hoover

user1492757084 · 13/04/2026 12:11

Arrietta is my fave from your list.
