Is it too out there? DD is due in June and I really like it. DH is Japanese so there is a tie. I know it's associated strongly with Spirited Away but think it's still a positive association and could use Hiro for a nickname. However, for some reason I am still hesitant even though I love the name IYSWIM.

I think it’s a lovely name and the Spirited Away connection is only a plus. Hiro is a lovely nickname too.

Middle name? All of the grandkids in my generation have Japanese middle names in honour of our Obachan.

We have Yoshis as family members and as much as I love the name and variants the pop culture connection is too much to give to an actual child in the west.

I am not at all familiar with the name Chihiro, but I think it's a nice name.

There are a few Japanese names beginning with 'Chi'. Chi can mean 'thousand' or 'wisdom'. A nice one is Chika which means 'thousand flowers'. It sounds similar to the Spanish word 'chica' which means 'girl'!

In glad I'm not the only one who thought Cheerio. However I was going to keep my mouth due to huge hype at the beginning of the comments.😂
