Not my cup of tea if I'm honest. Sounds like a bra brand name.

ETA the problem is, if you are not in Spain, people don't pronounce it as though they are Spanish. They say Lawr - REEE -nah.

And saying things with a foreign accent sounds affected if you aren't foreign.

I would always pronounce Lorena as Lorraine-ah and it is a nice name.

EspanaPorfavor · 28/03/2026 16:32

It’s pretty but I do think it’ll be pronounced Loreen-a in the uk.

Hurricane

My thoughts are you might get your family to pronounce it the way you want - but probably not all of them, her school friends will pronounce it the way you want but once she is out of school forget it.

My BFF does not pronounce my name correctly. It's just not worth the constant correction as an adult.

Needmorelego · 28/03/2026 17:02

What is the Spanish way of saying it?
Seeing it written down I would pronounce it "Law-reen-ah".
Is that how the Spanish say it?

NamingNoNames · 28/03/2026 17:06

@Needmorelego , more like Laur-ENN-ah (Laur like in Lauren)

WhereAreWeNow · 28/03/2026 17:06

It's nicer with Spanish pronunciation but everyone in UK will assume it's pronounced Lor-eena. Not so keen on British pronunciation.

jackstini · 28/03/2026 17:08

I would automatically pronounce that Loh-renna. It’s beautiful

NamingNoNames · 28/03/2026 17:09

I'm not sure that the OP is in the UK. She's started many threads.

Spidey66 · 28/03/2026 17:09

Another thread on another name and you’re not even pregnant?

Petrine · 28/03/2026 17:09

I’d pronounce it as lorENah

To be honest if the say those two different ways outloud they don't sound much different to me 🤷
Most pronunciation of names is just down to peoples accents. My name gets pronounced differently depending on a persons accent - but it's not really being said "wrong". It's just the way they talk.

I think OP is in Israel but the names she is asking about are mainly Spanish in orgin. She also claims to be an Indophile.

Every few months there seem to be multiple posts asking 'This name or that name?' where the OP is needing a name that will work somewhere not in the UK e.g. Ukrainian name that will work in Italy.

NamingNoNames · 28/03/2026 17:37

@Needmorelego , It's like the difference between Geena and Jenna.
