Delilah Abigail, Is it awful together?
Any other suggestions for a first name for a middle name of Abigail? That has an importance to us so wouldn't want to loose it.

I have an Abigail so I am biased but I think it makes a lovely first name and not massively popular.

If you love Delilah go for it!

Other ideas:

Rachael
Hannah
Sophie
Daisy
Charlotte
Freya

It doesn't flow and Abigail is much nicer than Delilah.

Wishimaywishimight · 25/03/2026 17:18

Abigail is such a beautiful name, seems a shame to waste it as a middle name!

Pianoaholic · 25/03/2026 17:18

Abigail works better as a first name I think (but it's my name so I am biased).
Then a short middle name works well with it.

Mumofgirls2017 · 25/03/2026 17:19

It does sound awkward yes but only if it matters to you. You could put a name in between-

delilah Grace abigail
delilah rose abigail
delilah Maeve abigail
delilah Florence abigail
delilah Beatrice abigail
etc…

or

violet abigail
eden abigail
willow abigail
margot abigail
autumn abigail
olive abigail
evelyn abigail
eloise abigail
penelope abigail
scarlett abigail
seren Abigail
wren abigail

NamingNoNames · 25/03/2026 18:34

You could put a name in between- it becomes too long.

The middle name won't be used much unless there's another girl with the same name and surname. The name and surname combination is what matters.
Delilah Tyler or similar would not work.

Marcipex · 25/03/2026 18:43

If you want an initial vowel as a middle name, you need to check it doesn’t spell anything awkward.

Delilah Abigail M……

I prefer Abigail too! But if you love Delilah, go for it!

How about Charlotte Abigail?

I think names ending in the A sound don't flow at all with Abigail, and in some accents a name like Delilah would sound like Delilerabigail. I'd avoid Delilah for that reason.

Names ending with the long E, long O, or long I would be nice.

Hazelmaybe · 25/03/2026 20:25

I think it works!

SquigglePigs · 25/03/2026 20:38

I don't love Delilah with Abigail but it's not that bad if you really want it.

I'd be inclined to go with something a bit shorter:

Hazel Abigail
Robin Abigail
Tessa Abigail
Lyra Abigail
Lyla Abigail
Lara Abigail
Zoe Abigail
Alice Abigail

Siân Abigail.

Jamclag · 25/03/2026 21:34

Both are lovely names.
Alternatively what about:
Tabitha Abigail
Rosalie Abigail
Matilda Abigail

Northbynorthbest · 25/03/2026 21:43

No specific examples but I think a 2 syllable name would sound best with it.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.
Abigail Is a gorgeous name but I would only want it as a middle name it's to honour somebody who is no longer with us but I wouldn't want to be saying it everyday all day if that makes sense.
Love some of the other options so far.
Beatrice is definitely up there in the list
Florence too almost used that for my other daughter but didn't so perhaps!
