Lydia or Ruby

BoleynMemories13 · 24/03/2026 00:23

Eloise or Lydia, followed by Ruby.

I'm not so fussed on the new additions to your list, personally. Isla is ok, but ten a penny around me. Kate is a short form Catherine. I don't like it as a given name, and I'm really not keen on Katie, which seems pretty inevitable when she's small. I much, much prefer your other 3 options.

OliviaBonas · 24/03/2026 00:41

Eloise Lydia is my favourite combination of names ever!

user1492757084 · 24/03/2026 05:33

Eloise and Kate are my faves.

Ruby and Lydia I like the least.

Isla is nice.

Dalmationday · 24/03/2026 05:38

I don’t think Kate works so well with a C surname eg Kate Cannon.

Eloise or Lydia

TinyMouseTheatre · 24/03/2026 08:03

I voted for Eloise or though I do like Lydia too.

There are an seagull lot of girls named Ruby and Isla around here so that would rule out both of those for me although they were popular for a reason.

SkaneTos · 24/03/2026 09:04

They are all good names!
I voted for Lydia.

Avantiagain · 24/03/2026 09:35

I like Eloise with your surname.

NamingNoNames · 24/03/2026 11:51

There are an seagull lot of girls ... ???

Eloise - too much of a mouthful IMO and will probably be Ellie. Use as a middle name.
Lydia - I really like it and Lydie. Will be Lyd or Lyds.
Kate - We chose this for DD1. Not short for anything and not Katie.
Isla - too overused. Top10 name for the past 14 years in the UK.
Ruby - I like it.

I don't know what the surname is other than it's 2 syllables and starts with a C (K sound), so I'll use Casey as the surname.
Eloise Casey - doesn't flow
Lydia Casey - lovely
Kate Casey - doesn't flow
Isla Casey - isle of ...
Ruby Casey - doesn't flow

Using Cullen as a surname:
Eloise Cullen - not great
Lydia Cullen - lovely
Kate Cullen - doesn't flow very well
Isla Cullen - isle of ...
Ruby Cullen - flows well.

I like Lydia and Eloise

Ruby is very 2008 - felt like very expectant parent I met said ‘we’re going with something a bit different. She’s going to be called Ruby’

Isla is a bit meh.

Love Kate, but I’d have Catherine on the birth certificate and ruthlessly correct anyone that tried to call her Katie.

SuperMarioToadPrincessPeach · 24/03/2026 14:27

Ruby and Isla are ten a penny. I like Lydia.

Hazelmaybe · 25/03/2026 20:29

I know a Kate Cannon 😂 We call her KC!
