I’m 24 weeks with my first baby, we are debating between Harry and Harry. Thoughts?

Harold!

Waiting for this name to return.

Harry is a good nn but I think Henry or Harold is better on BC.

Pettenell · 21/03/2026 11:47

Harry. And I'd put Harry on the birth cert not Henry. Harry is well and truly established as a name in its own right, not just a nickname.

SabrinaThwaite · 21/03/2026 11:52

If you put Henry on the BC then you can decide as he grows which one (Henry or Harry) suits him better - and he can decide himself which one he prefers as he grows up.

Ohdearwhatnow4 · 21/03/2026 11:54

I prefer Harrison but wait and meet the fella first

MonsteraDeliciosa · 21/03/2026 16:41

Call him Henry but he can be Harry as a NN. That’s (in part) where Harry comes from.

Prince Harry is actually named Henry.

Robogob · 21/03/2026 16:52

Henry

Henry is the formal name

ginasevern · 21/03/2026 16:57

I like both but lean more towards Henry. It's less common place than Harry and I think a little more distinguished. But, since Harry is a derivation of Henry then he could choose to be called that when older.

elQuintoConyo · 21/03/2026 16:59

Henry, without a shadow of a doubt.

LivingTheDreamish · 21/03/2026 17:36

Definitely Henry. I also like Harold but prefer nn Hal.

HandfulOfMoths · 21/03/2026 17:38

I like Harris, shortening to Harry. May be a bit too Scottish for you though.

permanently · 21/03/2026 17:50

Love Henry. Love Harris.

Specialneedsnightmare · 21/03/2026 17:58

Henry makes me think of the train!

I'd go for Harry.

user1492757084 · 22/03/2026 11:38

Harry 9
Henry 8
Harold 7
Harris 7
Harrison 6

Hazelmaybe · 22/03/2026 13:59

Henry

sesquipedalian · 22/03/2026 14:07

Definitely Henry - as others have said, give him the choice. I don’t know why people are even raising Harris or Harrison when you have asked about Henry or Harry.

Catlady1991 · 22/03/2026 15:05

Thanks ladies ☺️ we are swaying towards Harry I think. He’s going to have 2 middle names, so I think if we name him Henry but call him Harry his name will be really confusing

We have a Henry who has been known as Harry since the day he was born

Both great names.

DappledThings · 24/03/2026 22:19

Henry officially and known as Harry. I still assume any Harrys I meet are officially Henry although likely most are just Harry.

Firebird83 · 14/04/2026 15:38

Henry. Harry is nice but so overused.
