Fenna or Minna?

What are your thoughts on these 2 names for a girl please? Any other similar ideas? I like that they are short and simple, but not too common and feel like they would work for all ages.

I like Minna (I had a relative with the name and it was a possible for my DS if he had been born a girl).
Not keen on Fenna, I prefer Fennella.

ToKittyornottoKitty · 09/03/2026 13:15

Never heard these before, not keen either. Jenna is nice

MiddleAgedDread · 09/03/2026 13:15

I'm not sure how either are pronounced? Min-na, Mee-na, My-na??

mushypetits · 09/03/2026 13:16

They don't sound like names for a child. A horse maybe.

SuperMarioToadPrincessPeach · 09/03/2026 13:18

I don’t like Minna. I only know Fenna because that’s what comedian Katherine Ryan has called her daughter.

Watchoutfortheslowaraf · 09/03/2026 13:18

I like Minna. I don’t like fenna.

FoxtrotOscarFoxtrotOscar · 09/03/2026 13:19

They sound like names for the contraceptive Pill.

Livingmagicallyagain · 09/03/2026 13:22

Both really beautiful, and known but not overly popular in many European countries.

Moveoverdarlin · 09/03/2026 13:22

Fenna reminds me of the character Jim Fenner from Bad Girls.

Minna I just don’t know how to pronounce - is it Meen-nah or Min-nah.

Both lovely names. Gorgeous meanings and history too.

Other short uncommon names..
Carla
Kim
Gwen
Hebe
Enid
Senna
Frith
Vanda
Dawn
Greta

Fenna looks and sounds nice - not keen on Minna

Imisscoffee2021 · 09/03/2026 13:33

I like short names too but not these ones tbh, I prefer Fern or Mina (meena)

lululu99 · 09/03/2026 13:33

Minna is pronounced with a short I, like in minnow or mint. MIN-ah.

Not heard of these.Fenna is dire. Minna not great either. Much nicer names than these to choose from.

Wynter25 · 09/03/2026 13:35

Yes, this is what I think.

Fenn is much nicer than Fenna. It'll be shortened to that anyway.

Senna as in what you take when you're constipated, what a great name for a little girl 🙈

youalright · 09/03/2026 13:48

Op i know you are excited to have this cute little baby girl and you want people to think you're edgy or something coming up with an unusual name but remember this is a human being

DogsandFlowers · 09/03/2026 13:50

Neither!!

loislovesstewie · 09/03/2026 13:53

Neither.

maddiemookins16mum · 09/03/2026 13:55

Nope neither. Your child will be asked ‘pardon?’ every time she gives her name for evermore.

Ruthietuthie · 09/03/2026 14:00

Fenna is a Dutch name, I think (?). What about giving a longer version and then calling her Fenna.
Josefina?
Which pronouciation of Minna were you going for?
Or something different, what about Wren?

Or sanitary products.

These are both very normal European names.

loislovesstewie · 09/03/2026 14:14

Not all names travel well.
