Eleanora
Nancy
Beatrix

thank you!

GoldenRosebee · 02/03/2026 09:03

love the Nancy the best out of these three.

janietreemore · 02/03/2026 09:30

Eleanor is an elegant name with nice short versions. Elle, Ellie or even Norah.

NamingNoNames · 02/03/2026 10:19

Eleanora - too long. Eleanor is much nicer. Not keen on Ellie, Ella or Norah.
Nancy - great
Beatrix - beer tricks.

Mumofgirls2017 · 02/03/2026 12:03

They’re all fine. I like Nancy best but also Beatrix nn Trixie

NamingNoNames · 02/03/2026 12:23

Trixie is awful.

Calliopespa · 02/03/2026 13:05

I like Beatrix. It is nice to see that spelling being used and I quite like Trixie as a nn. (Not so much as a BC name!)

I also know a few who go by Bea and Bibi.

Nancy and Eleanor are my faves but Beatrix is nice.

Eleanora is too fussy and I don't like Nora.

You might like ..
Alannah
Ellen
Eloise
Betsy
Clemency
Marcie
Pandora
Bianca
Leonor
Bridie

Rhubarbandcustardd · 02/03/2026 15:38

I prefer Ellen
I find Beatrix to hard a name - maybe
Agatha

I like Dorothea which you may like

17caterpillars1mouse · 02/03/2026 17:46

Eleanora is beautiful but i'd think she'd likely become just another Ellie unless you push Nora. I really like Leonora nn Leo for a girl which i think is similar but avoids Ellie.

I really dont get the Nancy love on here. I always think of the placebo song Nancy boy.

Beatrix is another great name, fiesty but still has a classic feel.

SkaneTos · 03/03/2026 09:35

They are all beautiful names!

AgentPidge · 03/03/2026 09:46

Eleanora is classy but I'm not keen on the nicknames. DH works with an Ellie and it doesn't seem like a strong and serious name to me. Eleanor, however, does work without being shortened.
Beatrix - I prefer Beatrice but can't say I'm keen. It's OK. It's not awful.
Nancy is an old fashioned name to me, and American. Nancy Reagan. Nancy Drew. I really don't get the appeal.

babylamb4 · 03/03/2026 09:53

My favourite of the 3 is Nancy, love it

Same here. Nancy to me is Swallows & Amazons, Nancy in Oliver Twist, a former PM's daughter, and a name that is a 'granny name' in a good way.

Onefortheroad25 · 03/03/2026 11:10

Don’t really like any of them even though my mum is one of them!
What about Leanora? It’s similar but sounds less of a mouthful.

NamingNoNames · 03/03/2026 11:29

@Onefortheroad25 , it's usually Leonora. It will get misspelt and mixed up with Leonore etc.
It does seem easier to say and would be less likely to end up being Ellie.

elliesmummy19 · 03/03/2026 11:49

My daughter is called Eleanor so I much prefer that but don’t dislike Eleanora. Just feels a bit of a mouthful. I’m obviously biased about the name Eleanor though.

I absolutely LOVE Nancy.

Same for Beatrix.

Out of the three, Nancy is my favourite. Unless Eleanora is change to Eleanor then I’ll go for that.

elliesmummy19 · 03/03/2026 11:51

Also to add- my daughter is almost 7 and everyone calls her Eleanor. No one has shortened it to Ellie as far as I’m aware. My husband and I often call her El/Elle but no one else does.

Your username suggests otherwise. Smile

Dee51121 · 03/03/2026 12:58

I like Nancy (it's my DD's middle name, named after my Nan) especially as I like the nickname Nance. I also like Trixie for Beatrix if you do go down the nickname route.

However, with both those names I think there's a good chance people would use the full name. I like the name Eleanora but I do feel that it's likely to be shortened and I'm not personally a fan of any natural diminutives of it. If that doesn't bother you though, I would go for it.

I'd be tempted to go for Nora - I think it has a nice simplicity to it.

Are you naming alongside a partner? Although it can be annoying to have someone else's opinion to accommodate, I also find it helpful to narrow down choices. I hope you find something that feels just right (which may not happen until the baby arrives).

rosegarden95 · 03/03/2026 17:52

Eleanora or Elena

Eleanora
Nancy
Beatrix

thank you!

Eleanora - its a four-syllable mouthful, - if you like the sound of EL then Ella, Elle, are sweeter.

Nancy seems very north American - fine if that's where you live. I guess.

Beatrix - not ideal when this is the name of the former Prince Andrew's daughter. I know they did nothing wrong, but you don't want to be associated with the family.

mathanxiety · 05/03/2026 00:19

All three are lovely.

Just put the names in a hat and pick one out.

mathanxiety · 05/03/2026 00:20

@RogueFemale

Nancy is not at all North American, and AMW 's daughter is not Beatrix.

gillybombilly · 05/03/2026 00:32

Beatrix is beautiful.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 05/03/2026 00:39

I like Nancy.
Prefer Leonie to Eleanora.
Not keen on Beatrix. Bernadette?
