Amelia can be shortened to Millie and is much nicer, IMO.

i love love camilla. my df is called camilla but we always call her mills at her request. she is quite posh tho
i wanted camelia when dd was born but even that made dh think of parker-bowles . he can be quite stupid tho sometimes lol

It's a beautiful name, deriving from the Etruscan (pre-Roman Empire) for huntress. Interesting that Diana as a name shares the same meaning and similar origins

Too Parker-Bowles for me, but if the association doesn't bother you then go for it. Camille is much higher-brow in my opinion.

Very pretty name and, as other have said, don't be deterred by the royal associations if it's the name you really want.

If you opt for Camille, you'll have to decide whether to go for the French pronunciation (Cam-ee) or the Anglicised one (Cam-ill). Whichever you choose, lots of people will get it wrong, which I would find very annoying but you may be more relaxed about!

What about Camille instead and shorten it to Cami? I know one who is about 17 (does have a friench mother though)and it sound slovely.

I like it. But, it sounds quite posh I think. Take that as a positive or negative as you like! Don't be put off by C P-B.

a good friend of mine called her daughter Camilla and for a couple of weeks i kept thinking ..."Parker Bowles" every time she said the name

but it didn't last long and it has really grown on me - it's a lovely name and suits her DD

if you like it, use it - it's unusual without being difficult to spell or anything like that

Hmm Camilla- instantly makes me think of Prince Charles' wife...not that I object to it as a name in itself.
Have to say I prefer Camille instead...
