Help needed to narrow down girls names

Septesun · 15/02/2026 09:01

hello,
First Baby due in September. Have the boys name sorted but have the longest list of girls names 🫠 and can’t narrow it down. I’m sure it’ll change lots before due date. However wanted to get a feel for your favourite.

ps this is the narrowed down version

thank you x

I voted for Sienna, but Autumn and Summer are also my favorites.

timoteigirl · 15/02/2026 09:05

Some of these are very trendy such as Darcie. Does it matter? Does baby's birthday link with the season name?

Absolutely love Autumn 💗

dailyconniptions · 15/02/2026 09:08

Autumn or Sienna are my favourites from your list.

NamingNoNames · 15/02/2026 10:00

I don't like any of them.
Harper - too Beckham
Sienna - popular now but will be dated. Also a bit long
Summer - nice idea but too seasonal. Sums?
Darcie - dated already + multiple spellings
Autumn- what would it get shortened to. Aut? Tum?
Aria - nothingy. Air.

Pettenell · 15/02/2026 10:50

I voted for Autumn, but I also love Summer.

HawthornFairy · 15/02/2026 10:51

Autumn is a beautiful name.

Well yes, because the baby is due in September, as you’ll know if you read the OP.

Love Darcie (but prefer Darcey)
Love Harper
Love Autumn

Voted for Sienna but also like Autumn
Sienna Autumn is beautiful

NamingNoNames · 15/02/2026 11:18

Sienna Autumn is an air freshener or paint colour.

Sienna Autumn is an air freshener or paint colour.

but how often do you need to say both names? Should not be an issue. Unless surname relates to this theme...

MagicMarkers · 15/02/2026 11:36

I voted for Sienna, but don't really like any of them. I particularly dislike Harper. They're all a bit trendy.

Genuine question so why comment? Just to have some sort of vitriol? I don’t see the thought process….i ask which is you fav to choose from…your response I don’t like any of them. I’m sure I would dislike your taste because I’m guessing you go for dull run of the mill names but I wouldn’t comment because I realise our tastes are so different

@timoteigirl ,You could say that about any middle name.

It depends on whether or not the first name is used frequently or not.
If the surname is a common one, it might be used often. The other Siennas will probably be Sienna Rose/May/Grace.

Your list is of dull run-of-the-mill names!

SidekickSylvia · 15/02/2026 12:11

They're all lovely names, my favourites are Sienna and Autumn. Harper is not as soft sounding as all of the others, but still a nice name.

twilightermummy · 15/02/2026 12:12

I voted for Aria but love Autumn and like Sienna also.
I agree that Harper is too Beckhamy.
Congrats by the way 😊 A little girl is a blessing 🙏🏽

500daysofspring · 15/02/2026 12:19

Autumn is beautiful. I also like Sienna but I think the others are perhaps a little bit dated!

Why would it need to be shortened to anything @NamingNoNames? Such an odd comment.

I didn't say it needed to be shortened but names generally do get shortened. The weirdest ones I've heard have to be Ian and Mia. (Yes really!)

To be fair OP, your list is run of the mill. All of those names feature in my kids’ schools. Doesn’t mean they’re not nice. But when naming their first child people often don’t know many kids and think their name choices are pleasantly unusual, so just pointing that out! Hence the common story of people getting a shock once they go to baby groups and realising 3 other families also thought the name River was unique but now there are 4 Rivers in one baby sensory class 😁

BigFishLittleFishCardboardBoxes · 15/02/2026 14:35

They’re all run of the mill names!

How many more Darcie-Mais do we need? Or Sienna-Rose/Grace.

I like Summer.

NamingNoNames · 15/02/2026 14:47

@Septesun , you might know already but you can use the ONS baby name page or Darkgreener to see how popular names are.

Bear in mind that some names have several spellings (Darcie, Darcey, Darcy, Darci, Darcee, Darcie-May etc) and the data for each spelling is treated separately

In fairness, it is reasonable to assume that people posting in 'Baby Names' haven't yet decided, or want to get a feel for "what people, in general think of the names we are thinking of".

So, if people are only 'allowed' to give their opinions if they love the names, you then get a completely skewed feeling about what people think. A bit like if you just ask a couple of people you know, who share your tastes.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter if strangers on the internet like or don't like your choice of name, but there must be some sort of need for reassurance, or why would people be asking ?

staringatthesun · 15/02/2026 16:12

I love Sienna, but Autumn would be a close second for me.
