I really love Frank but how
popular is it?
Is it a hard name to pull off?

Baby grandson is Frank. So cute x

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 05/02/2026 15:06

I've not met many, but I've never met one I didn't like - my placement person as a student, my current boss.

floppybit · 05/02/2026 15:07

I love it!!!

FeliciaFancybottom · 05/02/2026 15:07

Being perfectly honest, maybe even a little blunt, I think it's awful. Forever associated with a bumbling, rather stupid man.

Numberwang66 · 05/02/2026 15:42

I love Frank!

If I had two boys I'd call them Frank and Ernie.

NamingNoNames · 05/02/2026 15:57

Frank popularity since 1996 (England & Wales).

EarthlyNightshade · 05/02/2026 15:58

It's fab!

Sunnydayze43 · 05/02/2026 19:56

I don't have any pre-conceived notions about the name Frank and would have loved to have named our first DS Frank ( after grandad Francis/Frank) but our last name is absolutely not suitable to the name! I would have shortened it to Frankie; so cute.

NamingNoNames · 05/02/2026 20:22

@Sunnydayze43 , Enstein, Enfurter or Spencer? Smile

DramaAlpaca · 05/02/2026 20:23

Sorry, but I think it's a very unattractive name.

AzureRose · 05/02/2026 20:24

It's not to my taste, but then it's not my child. So if you like it, there's nothing to stop you using it.

I do know a Francis who goes by the nickname Frankie or Fran. Is it possible to give him another name?Where you can use Frank as a nickname?

I can see it being quite a potential for teasing. Frankfurters etc

dove76 · 05/02/2026 20:42

Not my cup of tea, it sounds harsh to me. Though I don't mind Franklin nn Frankie

ResusciAnnie · 05/02/2026 21:01

Love it, don’t know any little ones and I know a lot of kids.

SirChenjins · 05/02/2026 21:04

I don't like it - it's a harsh sounding name that will always be Spencer or Butcher to me, although I'm aware these are dated references. It's up there with Kev, Nige or Deke.

StartingOverInMy40s · 05/02/2026 21:06

I’ve just seen a video on Tik tok about the name Frank. Someone was explaining the names they’d lived for a boy but hadn’t used and frank was top of their list x x

Greenfens · 05/02/2026 21:32

I know maybe 5 Frankies and two that just go by Frank. I like it

smellycat98 · 05/02/2026 21:32

Love it. Timeless but also very cool. Was on my list.

Keroppi · 05/02/2026 21:44

Really timeless imo Frank Francis and Franklin are lovely
Frankie is no 58 so it's not uncommon but frank/Francis are around 200. I hate the nicknames as birth certificate name trend but that's as an aside.
I help at a baby group there's 2 Eric's, Stanley, Chester, 1 bajillion Albies not Albert's and Arthur's
Frank is similar and nice sounding

permanently · 05/02/2026 21:46

Love it.

oblong920 · 05/02/2026 21:47

For me the first thing I think is the drug advice service Talk to Frank. Frank Spencer is the second.

EchoedSilence · 05/02/2026 21:47

Paaaaaaat

Moreteaandchocolate · 06/02/2026 08:49

It’s a good, solid name. Getting a little more popular, so fits in with his peers well.

@Sunnydayze43 , Enstein, Enfurter or Spencer? Smile

Who, who, and who??? 🤔🤷

Dee51121 · 06/02/2026 10:42

There were 256 babies named Frank in England and Wales in 2024. Frankie was more popular, 911 of them (top 60 name). Personally I much prefer Frank - I would go for it!

BarMonaco · 06/02/2026 10:42

I love it.
