Boy names help!

I find girl names so easy but really struggling to love a boy name.

I like traditional names. My issue is I’ve read a lot of CVs and I’ve seen people have unconscious bias around more exotic or none traditional names. I don’t agree with it but i know it happens.

Girl names examples are Sophie, Emily etc.
Girl names I dislike Primrose, Esme

Any help or suggestions for boy names?

I feel like I’m too fussy 😂😂

I love Benjamin and Alexander but less keen on the inevitable Ben / Alex.

I do like Jack, Luke, Charlie, Oliver.

These seem to be classic English girls names you like - right to assume you don’t want anything too modern / American / Celtic?

My son is an Alexander, his best friend is Benjamin - neither get shortened, so it isn’t totally inevitable! 😂

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 31/01/2026 21:16

An Alexander doesn’t have to be Alex. You can stick to the full name or use Xander instead if you like that. Lex or Sandy would be other options.

otherwise:

Nathaniel
Henry
Hugo
Thomas
William
Matthew
Joshua

I think some of the names that were always shortened when we were young like Benjamin and Alexander now are more often not shortened (also thinking Thomas here)
