Hypothetical slightly nerdy name combinations

Selene15 · 31/01/2026 16:25

I'm not pregnant, but always been fascinated by names. For the record, I'm a bit weird and a history/mythology/book nerd.

My current top girl combinations:

Selene Lucy
Christina Rose
Rowena (or Rosanna) Hope
Lyra Autumn
Ida Xanthe
Skye Anouk
Alice Perdita

For boys:
Linden Rivers
Jonathan Noel
Avery Magnus
Jude Lane
Finley Elijah

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Selene Lucy - not a huge fan of Selene but I've always thought that Lucy is lovely in the middle name spot and wonder why its not used more Christina Rose - I really like Christina but struggle with nn. I fibd Tina very dated and any Chrissie I've ever met has been a bit mean girl . Rose is dull as a middle name, though I like it as a first name Rowena (or Rosanna) Hope - prefer the simplicity of Rowan. Hope is cure. Lyra Autumn - really like thisIda Xanthe - I like Xanthe but not a fan of IdaSkye Anouk - love Anouk, find Skye childish Alice Perdita - lovely namesFor boys:Linden Rivers - not a fan at allJonathan Noel - i like Jonathan and nicknames John and Jonty. Hate NoelAvery Magnus. Love Magnus, dislike AveryJude Lane - love Jude but its overly popular atm. Dislike LaneFinley Elijah - like Elijah, Finley is ok

Do you say Seleen or Seleenee?

KnickerlessParsons · 01/02/2026 22:32

Thank the Lord you’re not actually pregnant!

I have friends who are scientists - called their children Henry and Kelvin. At least it wasn't quite as obvious as Ampere or Fahrenheit 🙂.

Do you mean you’re relieved that no actual child is going to be given one of these totally normal names?

Calliopespa · 02/02/2026 08:20

I quite like Alice Perdita.

Christina Rose I find a bit blah and then the others all sound a bit forced if I'm honest.

These really aren’t that odd OP. And nothing weird about being into mythology 😁

from your list I know kids called: Lucy (multiple), Rose (multiple), Hope, Lyra (multiple), Autumn, Xanthe, Skye, Alice (multiple), River (granted not the plural), Jonathan, Jude (multiple), Elijah (multiple), Finley (multiple). Know 2 grown up Rowenas and a female Avery (love!), and a grown up Linden (spelled Lyndon).

Is Selene sell-en like quite frenchy, or Celine? I like either.

Nice list!

I think its the combinations that don't quite sit right.
