Middle name for Cora?

Hi all, DP and I are starting to think about baby names as we TTC. Exciting time!

For a girl, we are set on Cora. We'd like a short middle name that flows well with Cora. To give some context, we live in a German-speaking country, and the baby will get both surnames, one Italian and one Scottish. Therefore, name length and pronunciability are important factors.

A few ideas for now are: Cora Mae, Cora Louise, Cora June.

Any other ideas? Thanks!!

Nappel?

June might not sound right said by German-speakers. Mae is not great. Mai might be better.

Love Cora Jane and Cora Fern!

Cora Fern would be my favorite I think. It makes me think of Scotland 😊

BrucesBarAndGrill · 19/01/2026 11:04

My first thought before opening the thread was "Cora Jane" so from your list I probably feel that Cora June is my favourite

JustAnotherNameChange2026 · 19/01/2026 11:18

Ah, Cora was my girl name! I was going to call her Cora Christina

FunnyOrca · 19/01/2026 11:56

Cora Anna
Cora Hermine
Cora Ilse
Cora Eva
Cora Sabine
Cora Emily

Or embrace your Scottish roots with 🥁🥁🥁
Cora Flora 🌸

Also, for what it’s worth (regarding pronunciation) , middle names come up so rarely. I gave my daughter a very meaningful middle name that I was so happy for her to have and… it literally never comes up! I should have given it as a first!

Ruth sounds different in many other languages.

Lots of choice suggestions on here OP.
When I saw your subject title, my first thought was Cora Louise, so that would be my pick from yours and your DH's choices!

All the best to you both; yes, a very exciting time!

Cora Anne immediately came to kind before I read you wanted a short middle name.

Personally I would choose anything other than Mae/Rose/Grace as it’s quite literally every girl’s middle name.

True, but consider that we don't live in the UK, so that won't really be an issue here. We are in Switzerland, where the top girl names are Emma, Sophia, Mia, and most people don't give middle names here (but we'd like to!).

Dora :)

LovelyUser · 19/01/2026 15:07

@Unhappyitis , Cora Dora Laura Norah Maura?

@elsamayy , we don't live in the UK, so that won't really be an issue here That might change or your DD might live here as an adult.
I'm not a fan of filler middle names like May, Louise, Rose, Anne, Jane and Grace. The names are OK but boring as middle names.

Dora!
