Go with Poppy, much nicer.

LighthouseLED · 12/01/2026 12:25

Definitely Poppy

agirlandherdog1234 · 12/01/2026 12:28

If you're having doubts, it would say to me that Poppy isn't the right name.
Flip a coin. If you feel disappointed with the result then you know whatever name it is, isn't right.

Mumofgirls2017 · 12/01/2026 12:36

I prefer olive but if you prefer poppy go with that

Melsy88 · 12/01/2026 13:19

Much prefer Olive - feels like a more substantial name. Poppy feels a bit too cutesy. Nice for a toddler, less so for a grown woman!

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 12/01/2026 13:24

Call her Olive for a couple of days between yourselves and have imaginary conversations with other people about her, referring to her as Olive. Decide which sounds more natural.

Moreteaandchocolate · 12/01/2026 17:18

Poppy is my favourite 😊 I like Olive but it seems to be quite a marmite name, plus she could end up being yet another “Liv”.

Maybe Polly.

Others .. Mary, Molly.
Red names - Scarlett, Rose, Cherry, Poppy.
Green names - Olive, Midori, Emerald.
Flower or tree names - Iris, Jasmine, Hazel, Daphne, Laurel, Lindsey, Daisy, Olive, Poppy, Fern, Myrtle,

I prefer Poppy to Olive. Which name do you thinks suits better? Use both names, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, for a few days.

LAX12 · 12/01/2026 17:44

Poppy! Olive becoming too common

user1492757084 · 12/01/2026 17:46

Poppy with a classic second name..

Poppy Victoria
Poppy Eliza
Poppy Eleanor
Poppy Jane
Poppy Catherine

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/01/2026 19:14

Poppy.

HoorayHattie · 12/01/2026 19:59

I think Poppy sounds lovely for a little girl whereas Olive is a more grown-up name

I agree with all the PP's who are suggesting that you alternate use of the two names until one of them becomes more dominant ~ my DN did this, not with two different names, but with the long and short versions of the same name (similar to Charles/Charlie) as she & her DH couldn't work out which one to put on the birth certificate . . . it soon became obvious to them that he would always be called by the shortened version so they used that.

Calliopespa · 12/01/2026 20:01

I do know a Poppy who gets called Poopy at school.

Norastroud · 12/01/2026 23:15

Poppy is a lovely name!

LivingTheDreamish · 13/01/2026 02:26

Polly is a good shout. If you are set on Poppy or Olive, I agree with calling her Olive for a few days and see how it sits with you.

Pinkyhere · 19/01/2026 17:21

Prefer Poppy
With a classic/traditional middle name to balance out the cuteness.
