We are having a baby girl in early June. I like heaps of girls’ names, but my husband only likes a few. Here is the list we both like so far:

Sienna
Summer
Nina
Nicole (Nikki)
Danielle/Daniela (Dani)
Sam
Brooke
Lana

Middle name is most likely Cara (for family reasons), unless we choose Lana or Nina, in which case we may need a longer one. We already have a daughter, Eloise.

Grateful for any thoughts, either on our names or any similar names!

I have a wierd love of the name Maxine, nn Max for a girl.

More 80s names that have aged well (I think):

Meghan
Tiffany
Courtney
April
Caroline / Cassie
Quinn

Actually looking at your original post Summer is cute

NotMeekNotObedient · 23/12/2025 23:03

Nina is my favourite of those.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 23/12/2025 23:05

Nina is lovely

Pettenell · 23/12/2025 23:38

From your list I like Summer and Daniela (much nicer than Danielle!)

Nicola, which is more timeless - or the sweet unusual Nicolette - would be much better than Nicole.

Eloise and

Claudia
Anya
Anna
Lilah
Talullah
Sophia
Adelaide
Lydia

I like Summer and Brooke.
They sound fresh in a time when there are so many names ending in -a, -ia -ie.
Some other suggestions:
Leigh
Bryony
Estelle

I know sisters Eloise and Bronwen.

I also love Angela! Nickname Ginny.

Lana is my fav.
Nina is nice.
Sienna I quite like.
No too keen on the others but Samantha rather than just Sam I would like.

Icecreamhelps · 24/12/2025 23:41

Nicole

I think Nina is the stand out name there.
Not a massive fan of Danielle, probably because I’m from Essex where it gets said Danyell. I was nearly called Danielle and I am pretty pleased not to have been.

I am named Danielle and though I am not from Essex I'm reliably informed my name is chavvy. My parents thought it sounded French ...

Sienna - Pretty. I often see it called trendy or overused but I've never met one and I've been a teacher for 18 years.
Summer - Also a pretty name. Not sure it works for a baby born in Winter?
Nina - it's ok. Makes me think of a nee-nah siren a bit. I know several little Ninas who are all Indian but I think that's a coincidence, I don't think it's a specifically Indian name.
Nicole (Nikki) - actually really like this. Yes, it's a bit dated but that makes it fresh for today's kids.
Danielle/Daniela (Dani) - ditto to Nicole although I prefer Nicole. I do know one Dannielle and one Daniela under 13 but no others.
Sam - don't like it as a standalone. I like Samantha and Samaris
Brooke - it's ok. No strong feelings either way.
Lana - like it but it blends in with so many short L names that end in an A.

From your list I would probably go with Nicole. Second choice Sienna.

Nicole, Danielle, Brooke, and Sam are very dated and not in a good way.

I'd choose Sienna from your list.
Summer is nice too.
Lana is nice, but would you pronounce it Lah-na or Lay-na?
Nina is a but wispy for my taste.

I think Eloise and Sienna would go really well as sister names.

Cassidy is a surname.

Italiangreyhound · 30/12/2025 03:21

It can be both.

Bebeandgang · 30/12/2025 03:37

I like Cara best of all the names. Could you use that as a first name?
