They aren’t my favourites but those have all been vetoed sadly so will need to compromise. I am ok with popularity as our baby needs a name…thanks

I voted Beatrice as I love the NN Bea. What were your favourite names OP?

Floam6 · 17/12/2025 16:58

Thank you @cantbearsed27. My favourites were Phoebe, Clara and Sophie which I’m feeling sad about losing but my hubby isn’t onboard.

Oh no, they are lovely too and a similar style. Could you have one as a middle name?

Caniweartheseones · 17/12/2025 17:01

I remember you (I think?) from the thread about baby names where you were unsure about your husband I.e. he is a difficult person and not very nice to you. Wish you could have your name. Maybe as a middle name?

Floam6 · 17/12/2025 17:02

Thank you. Yes that is me. There hasn’t been any progress sadly and I’m feeling very low about it so just trying to find some solution and give our beautiful daughter a name. ❤️

I have voted Eliza.

I like Beatrice too, but I’ve only known one who was an elderly lady and everyone called her Beat and Beety and I don’t like either. If you could enforce the shortened name of Bea it would be pretty, but in my experience friends end up dictating the shortening of your name, so you end up with not much say.

Actually I just remembered I also knew a Trixie years ago whose full name was Beatrice. I don’t like that shortening either.

I love Beatrice but have plumped for Eliza as it's less common. I know quite a few Beatrice's. Of your names I like Clara but the others are a bit over used. I know about a million Phoebe's. Sophie is a middle aged lady name now. Needs a rest for half a generation. Your list is very nice.

Oh god OP, that's so sad and made me change my mind. Leave the fucker and go register your dd as one of your favourite names - with the other two as middle names - instead.

I know it doesn't always feel that simple though, so at least look after yourself and take any support you can get. I hope next year is a better one for you.

mynameisthebestone · 17/12/2025 18:04

I voted Matilda but actually I don't think you can go wrong with any of the first three you listed.

I've never liked Beatrice; and Olivia and Grace have both been really popular for more than a decade which puts me off.

mynameisthebestone · 17/12/2025 18:07

My DC's names were all compromises too. I gave them my favourites as middle names.

Cando6 · 17/12/2025 18:09

All lovely. I voted Annabel as the classiest and because Anna and Annie are lovely.

Needmorelego · 17/12/2025 18:14

Grace or Eliza are my favourite two.
I voted Grace (as you can only vote for one).

CurlewKate · 17/12/2025 18:17

I voted Eliza- but I would go for Elizabeth because there are so many shortenings to choose from. Including Eliza!

ginasevern · 17/12/2025 18:31

Eliza is the least overused (as far as I know). It's also a nice name. The others are all pretty common place I think.

Moreteaandchocolate · 17/12/2025 21:17

I love Annabel and Eliza - gorgeous names! I’d use either one of them in a heartbeat.

Olivia and Grace are nice too if you don’t mind their popularity.

Beatrice sounds a bit stern to me and Matilda is nice but I’m not so sold on Tilly.

@Floam6 , I’m feeling very low about it . Congratulations on the baby. Is there more to this than the baby's name? It comes across as maybe you are being bullied. Is there someone other than your husband you could talk to?

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter! I also think you seem to be bullied, and that the naming of your baby is perhaps just one immediate way that it is showing. Please seek help and support as you are able.

All your name choices are quite lovely! Both this list and your discounted options. I wonder if there's a favourite for you among the list - you haven't mentioned this? Please go for whichever one just warms your heart.

It's not easy among so many great choices, but, for myself I would choose Eliza. Eliza Phoebe? But then Beatrice, Annabel, Grace, Matilda are lovely too. I do get annoyed by the phrase 'go with your heart' which gets used a lot on this site - well, of course - but in your case I wonder if your heart has been broken over naming your daughter and you now just can't feel it. Take time to see if calling your baby one of these names just feels special for you.

Emanwenym · 18/12/2025 09:40

@Floam6 , there are many name regret threads where the mother has been pushed into naming a baby. Please put your health and your bond with the baby first.

Here is my preference:
Phoebe
Sophie
Beatrice

user1492757084 · 18/12/2025 13:19

Eliza Phoebe
Matilda Sophie
Grace Clara

All beautiful.

LivingTheDreamish · 19/12/2025 02:09

Sorry you can't have your favourites but Eliza is a very lovely name OP.
