It's a dating app

Gowlett · 14/12/2025 20:46

It’s quite nice. But, expect folks not to know what you’re saying when you tell them the name. Not that you have to call her Mary…

Sprookjesbos · 14/12/2025 20:48

Dating app

Runningismyhappyplace50 · 14/12/2025 20:49

I like it but it is the name of a dating app so I would not use it.

toohottofunction1234 · 14/12/2025 20:49

I think it’s lovely :) a friends daughter is called Raya (also a March baby)

Bellebelleagain · 14/12/2025 20:50

It’s nice but just makes me think of the dating app sorry.

CraftyPlayer · 14/12/2025 20:50

Celeb dating app.

arcticpandas · 14/12/2025 20:51

Is it an arabic name? Never heard of it but don't really like the sound of it.

Lemonysnickety · 14/12/2025 20:52

Love it know a few.

pteromum · 14/12/2025 20:52

Where are you from? I have a lovely friend who is Russian called Raya.

Rocketship003 · 14/12/2025 21:19

I quite like it but it’s getting more popular if that’s something you’d be worried about. It’s on a lot of baby lists now of my friends

SlowSloths · 14/12/2025 21:23

I know a baby Raya. Had no idea it was the name of a dating app. I just think of the Disney movie 'Raya and the Last Dragon'

Frogbear · 14/12/2025 21:27

I know two girls with the name Raya and they are both Asian so tbh I would assume you are too.

Jollyjoy · 14/12/2025 21:28

My first thought is Raya and the last dragon, the Disney movie! But not a bad thing - she’s an inspiring character. I’ve never met a Raya but I like it.

ButterflySky · 14/12/2025 21:34

Lovely. Made me think of the film (not a negative)

kittywittyandpretty · 14/12/2025 21:34

Dreadful

Notmymarmosets · 14/12/2025 21:55

I know a fabulous 12 year old Raya, so for that reason I love the name. But even stand alone it's good.

Zov · 14/12/2025 21:58

Yeah, the first thing to come to mind is the dating app @Lmaoo

So no. Absolutely not. (Sorry.)

KilliMonjaro · 14/12/2025 22:02

Sounds like a girls name that’s been made out of a boys name to me…
like Nigella or Thomasina.

SingingSands · 14/12/2025 22:12

I work with a Raya. She's really cool 😀

soontobeamama · 14/12/2025 22:17

Lovely name. Had never heard of the dating app that some other people have mentioned, so I wouldn’t let that put you off. It’s so much nicer than some of the horror names usually mentioned on here.
If it works for you and you both like it - go for it!

BillieWiper · 14/12/2025 22:20

Yeah dating App. Raye? Like the singer? Or Rain? Hippyish but cute? X

SquigglePigs · 14/12/2025 22:40

I really like it. Never heard of the dating app so the only place I've heard it before is from Raya and the Last Dragon, and that's not a bad thing.

NewGoldFox · 14/12/2025 22:40

Like Raya and the dragon.

Ecrire · 14/12/2025 22:45

It is an actual word in an Asian language for a specific female goddess. I’d think works very well for migrant or mixed heritage families seeking short simple baby names in the West yet honouring their culture/ethnicity/language .

“dreadful”? Wow.
