Sister for Ottilie and Astoria

SJone0101 · 10/12/2025 12:58

I have 2 daughters so far (Ottilie/Ottie and Astoria/Torie), what would you go with for their next sister due in March?

Delilah / Lilah
Persephone / Seffie (I love Roman history)
Florence / Florrie
Adaline / Ada
Violet / Lettie

Please add any extra. I would prefer a name not in the top 20, with the ability to shorten it like the above.

Persephone is obvs Greek, not Roman.

Not many people have an Aurelia. I love it and think it would go well with your other dd’s names.

Beerlzebub · 10/12/2025 16:20

I would say that Ophelia is becoming as popular as Ottilie is.

Persephone is also rising up the ranks.

I love Serafina, as a PP posted.

Funderthighs · 10/12/2025 16:24

I’d choose Persephone but shorten it to Percy.

How about Imogen (Imo) or Charlotte (Lottie)?

OhDear111 · 10/12/2025 17:10

Persephone is Greek.

why do you need a nickname? Just use the name. Adelaide is Ada usually. Im assuming you don’t want Waldorf.

On a serious note - Roman names:
Julia
Valentina
Octavia
Livia
Faustina
Augusta
Agrippina
Paulina
Valeria
Antonia

I teach a Persephone, she's lovely.

Artemis?

unambiguousbeard · 10/12/2025 20:46

Persephone isn't from Roman history she was a figure from Greek mythology. Her Roman name was Proserpine. You could shorten that to Prosey

Mandarinaduck · 10/12/2025 20:49

I love Astoria, that's very unusual and rather grand!

Of your list I like Delilah best.

Some other suggestions:
Berenice
Iseult
Marguerite
Edwina
Florentina
Carmen
Antigone
Marina
Danaé

HolyMacaroniBatman · 10/12/2025 20:59

Everyone will expect something like Verdigris or Rotunda or Hedwig or Valerian, but this is your chance to surprise them.

How about:
Linda (‘Lin’)
Tracey (‘Trace’)
Ella-Mae
Sharon (‘Shazza’)
Chantelle
Julie (‘Jools’)
Bernadette (‘Bernie’)

Moreteaandchocolate · 10/12/2025 22:29

Lovely list! I wouldn’t be brave enough to use Persephone as the spelling/ pronunciation issues would bother me, but I love pp suggestion of Seraphina nn Sephy.

I’d pick Florence, Adaline or Violet.

SaltySeaMaiden · 10/12/2025 22:30

Maude. Clementine. Ernestine.

dancerdog · 10/12/2025 16:10

Persephone is a Greek goddess.

Raped by Hades at that. It's a pretty name but somehow I just couldn't.

sesquipedalian · 10/12/2025 22:40

Seraphina is pretty and then she would definitely be Seffie - and it has the advantage that both start with the same letter. Please don’t call her Delilah - I just can’t get over people naming their DD after the treacherous Philistine temptress (the implication is a prostitute) who betrayed Samson (Book of Judges).

User415373 · 10/12/2025 22:41

It might be nice for it not to end the 'ee' sound like your other daughters. I don't know if anyone else notices these things but to me 3 siblings ending in an 'ee' sound makes it seem deliberate (maybe it is). So many popular names these days do end in it though so it rules a lot out.

OhPIease · 10/12/2025 22:50

I'd want another vowel name, and ideally a T in there too.

Evanthia
Greek for “fair blossom.” Magical.
Thia, Evie,

Electra.
Shining bright/amber.
Ellie, Lexi,
