Very ordinary girls names

Trying to think of girls names that are extremely normal 😅 just good strong classic names.

What I'm thinking is a long the lines of Hannah, Amy, Charlotte etc etc.

I want to avoid anything too unusual, too vintage or too whimsy.

Any suggestions welcome

@ValentandoThey don’t if you are one in 200 they are meeting at an event though where everyone is a great professional and smart. Anyway DD has the extra bonus of her name as she sees it.

I do get a complex family name can be too much with a more unusual first name and of course you might crave anonymity!

The national office for statistics has list of the most popular baby names each year. Have a look back every 5 years or so and see what keeps popping back up?

miniaturepixieonacid · 10/12/2025 22:42

Hannah, Amy and Charlotte are three of my favourite names. Choose one of them! All prefect.

Though, if you're going for 'normal' I'd say Hannah and Amy are now quite unusual. As are a lot of the suggestions on this thread. They're all names of girls adults grew up knowing multiples of.

From my experience at school, the normal names are absolutely Emma, Laura, Rebecca, Hannah, Amy, Sarah, Gemma etc.

But from my experience teaching, the normal names are:
Lily, Annabel, Evie, Holly, Charlotte, Daisy, Sophia, Isabella, Poppy, Isla & Chloe

To me 80s names are 'normal' as that's when I was at school. Some of the kids in my child's primary class have normal names by my definition - there's a Matthew, Jamie, Katie, and Lucy (which I had in my primary class too!)

ladyamy · 11/12/2025 14:16

I wouldn’t say Sian, Imogen or Phoebe are particularly ‘normal’

JukeboxJive2 · 11/12/2025 14:17

Charlotte and Anna

Hannah's a wonderful choice!

Emma
Anna
Laura
Rebecca
Rachel
Jane
Louise

This sounds a bit like my class at school!

Do we tend to think of "normal" as what was common when we were young?

For me it would be:

Emma (loads of them at my school)
Sarah (ditto)
Louise
Anna
Annabel (again loads)
Kate (and again!)

Wouldn't you ?

DemBonesDemBones · 11/12/2025 15:07

Why? From someone with an unusual name with wider family with unusual names and who named my children unusual names, I don’t understand your main requirement being ‘normal.’ Why would you not want your child to have a special to them name?

MissyB1 · 11/12/2025 15:14

Am I the only person who doesn’t like the name Emma? No offence to anyone!
