Marina is quite regal - I love it. Mariana is a bit frilly.

I prefer Mariana over Marina. But the similarity to Marijuana now it's been pointed out is unfortunate! I now cant unsee it!

With 2 x 'n's I think might get pronounced Marry-anna, but that's no different I guess to Sara either being Sair-ah or Sar-a.

Mariana, because all I think of for Marina is a place to keep boats.

I like both! I voted for Marina because it’s shorter and less likely to be shortened as a rule. Although Marnie is a lovely nn.

I used to work with a Mariana, she was lovely. Nice name.

Mariana is too frilly, and the -ana bit doesn't sound nice.
Marie, Maria and Mariella are much prettier.
