I think it is. I'd be mortified if I was named that.

Why are you putting some poor child's name up for ridicule? She's two. It's her name.

She’s unlikely to be on Mumsnet, so how would she know?

It gives massive ‘I’m mad me! Disney adult, will kick a child to have a picture with Mickey vibes’

FlatErica · 09/11/2025 13:31

Yes. Very silly.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 09/11/2025 13:37

What's the difference between Bing Crosby and Walt Disney?
Bing sings, but Walt disnae (old Scottish joke).

gottadowhatyougottado · 09/11/2025 13:39

I have known a Disney. He was very old school posh public school boy, so it does exist as a forename …

dizzydizzydizzy · 09/11/2025 13:40

I'd love it as a last name! Wouldn't be my choice as a first name since I prefer traditional names like Alexander, Elizabeth, James, Emily. However, I don't think it's that bad and I wouldn't judge anyone for using it. It's no worse than other modern unisex names like Taylor or River.

ELCismyspiritnana · 09/11/2025 13:42

I had an elderly relative called Disney. We all thought it was her real name until she dies and we discovered it was a nickname. No idea why, she was older than the franchise too so unlikely it came from the Disney corporation (im old, she was ancient lol). I dont think its any worse than a lot of other names people use now, but did think it very odd when I was younger.

GuyForksAndKnives · 09/11/2025 11:50

Yes. Well, she's 2.

Please slap both the parents on my behalf.

Yes

It’s a nice name for a cat but not as a first name for a person

Or a mouse 🐁

Well she's hardly likely to be reading MN is she & by the time she's old enough it won't come as a surprise that most people think her parents were stupid.

Zempy · 09/11/2025 13:52

FFS!

SpikeGilesSandwich · 09/11/2025 14:37

Not my taste but I’ve heard worse I suppose. At least it’s spelt correctly, they could have gone with “Dyznee” or something!

GuyForksAndKnives · 09/11/2025 11:56

Disnae get jokes

MoominMai · 09/11/2025 14:55

Actually I’m surprised there’s not an epidemic of pets being called Disney.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 09/11/2025 15:00

I really like it!

It’s unisex and will be the name of my next child, a brother or sister to: Pixar (boy, 15), Hanna-Barbera (girl, 10) and Loony-Tunes (boy, 6).

Firebird83 · 09/11/2025 21:56

I know someone who called her daughter Disney-Leigh….

Quickqueensquirrel · 10/11/2025 22:23

Is Disney a good name?
Well it was a good name for Walt.

There isn't anything redeeming about the name Disney as a child's first name.

Just think of the diminutives:
Diz? Dizzy? Nee?
It doesn't sound nice at all OP.

If you're a Disney fan I'm sure there's no end of names you can choose from one of the films?

Avantiagain · 11/11/2025 07:49

My first thought was that Mormon family. Disney is not as bad as some of the other children's names.
