Zander Elias Grant, Zachary Elias Grant or Zachariah Grant Elias?

Hello everyone,

I am struggling to come to a final decision for my son’s name, the father wants Elias + Grant as his middle names as his middle name is Grant and he likes the name Elias. I am choosing his first name, but I am torn between the 3 i have written in the title. Zander Elias Grant, Zachary Elias Grant or Zachariah Grant Elias. I like that Zachariah isn’t as popular, as I do like to be different. I just don’t know if it flows as nicely as the other two names, I want the middle names to flow even though they’re not used or said as often as the first + last names.

Why not Alexander Elias Grant?

Can then be called Xander as a nickname. Or your ds might prefer a different nickname (like Alex or Al or Sandy - good options with Alexander).

The Elias I know is pronounced Ellie-us. Emphasis on the Ellie.

Great shout. I vote that, and I’m not usually an Alexander fan.

Zachariah and Zachary will both be called Zach anyway won’t they. So id just go Zachary. Zachariah Elias is too echoey as PP have said (assuming uh-LIE-us pronunciation).

i like Zachariah Elias Grant! Think it sounds lovely! In reality he’ll only go by his first and surname so make sure they go together! My two both have two middle names but never use them

I would say El-eye-as but I'm Welsh and that's we pronounce it.

@KnickerlessParsons , my Welsh cousin has an Elias and they say it as El-ee-as.

Zachariah Elias Grant gets my vote.

Yes, because it's a diminutive of Alexander.

Alexander Elias Grant is really nice, actually. Nobody ever uses full names anyway, except marriage celebrants, court officials (and your Mum when "you're in big trouble, mister!")

Prefer Zachary of the three names

Zachary is lovely, although I think I'd switch Elias to a similar name starting with I (Idris, Innes) so you could call him Ziggy from his initials.

Alexander Elias Grant is the clear winner.

Zachariah and Elias seem much too frilly together in a name.

OP, go with YOUR favourite first name. The middle names will hardly ever get used. How many friends middle names do you even know?

You get one chance to name your baby, go with what you love. You've said you like Zachariah the most, so Zachariah it is and it goes beautifully with Elias and Grant.
Zachariah Elias Grant - perfect (the one I would choose) or if you are concerned it's a tongue twister Zachariah Grant Elias works well too.

They all sound like a US President from the 1800s. Sorry too many names.

Just seen your surname is Critten, Zachariah Critten is fab.

You’ll only really use the first name most of the time so choose the one you like most. I like Zachary. I hate the name Grant so would veto that even if it was my partners name. 😬😂

He’ll probably only say his full name out loud about once in his life. Just go with what you like best. And Zander should be Xander.
