Is it chavvy? I really love this name and it has a special family resonance for me, but am worried everyone is going to think I’ve named my daughter after a high street shop!!

It sounds classy to me! I like it!

User415373 · 25/10/2025 22:38

Oh I absolutely love it. I wanted it for my little girl but my husband wasn't keen. Gorgeous name.

MumChp · 25/10/2025 22:43

I like Sara more.

TidyDancer · 25/10/2025 23:02

It’s beautiful and about as far away from chav as you can get.

HonoriaBulstrode · 25/10/2025 23:05

Is it chavvy?

Hardly - unless you think Princess Anne has chavvy tastes!

DemonsandMosquitoes · 26/10/2025 06:27

Lovely. Also love Cara.

StrongLikeMamma · 26/10/2025 06:46

It’s nice.
But does make one think of the shop.

Lovely name.

SleafordSods · 26/10/2025 07:46

I like it too but it also makes me think of the shop.

StrongLikeMamma · 26/10/2025 07:47

Or Cyra

I like Sara more.

I find a lot of people pronounce it Sarah though. So can't really use it, would just infuriate you if you wanted it pronounced properly.

Zara's beautiful. I considered it but it was after one of my favourite movie characters.

HugoYorway · 26/10/2025 14:20

It's ok. I know several so it seems quite ordinary.
In 1981 it was unusual, so I don't think you can compare it to a famous person using it then.

zebrastripesarefun · 26/10/2025 14:47

Zara is a really beautiful name and I love the meaning too

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 26/10/2025 14:55

No, and it's quite popular at the moment so no one will think it's because you love the shop.

Tara is v ch**vy in the US, for some reason.

Firebird83 · 26/10/2025 16:30

It’s not chavvy. I like it!

Sparklesandspandexgallore · 26/10/2025 16:34

I like it.

34ransum · 26/10/2025 16:47

Definitely not chavvy
Elegant, chic, understated

Zanatdy · 29/10/2025 13:59

I love it, and have a Zahra. Arabic spelling to reflect her heritage. Always had nice compliments, and never heard anyone say its chavvy.

hannah258 · 29/10/2025 14:22

it’s a lovely name, not chavvy in the slightest

HugoYorway · 29/10/2025 14:27

@Colinfromaccounts You really think someone would say to you 'Your daughter's name is chavvy'?

purple590 · 29/10/2025 14:53

I really like it and don't think it's chavvy at all.
