Can the name Zack/Zach/Zac be a stand alone name, or does it have to be Zachary? If Zack/Zach/Zac can be a stand alone name, which one looks correctly spelled? Or are all 3 correct?

I know a Zack who is just Zack. And a Zach who is really Zachary.

StampOnTheGround · 24/10/2025 20:47

Yes, it was in the top 2 names for DS2 - I was also unsure of spelling but I think we’d have gone for Zack.

Never seen Zac as a standalone name before. Surely Zachery is the traditional given name with it then being shortened to whichever variant you wish!

WorkCleanRepeat · 24/10/2025 20:48

I think it's usually "Zack" for a standalone name. The other variants are usually shortenings.

Moreteaandchocolate · 24/10/2025 20:53

Yes, I’d use Zack as the standalone spelling.

Needmorelego · 24/10/2025 21:08

I think Zack looks best if it's stand alone.
(I did know a Zachariah once which I thought was very fancy - he was known as Zacky)

Emanwenym · 24/10/2025 21:16

Zac but I'd put Zachary on the BC.

Zac/Zach/Zack looks and sounds unfinished. I really dislike it. It’s like Zap or Zip…

LavenderBlue19 · 25/10/2025 07:54

I know a Zak and and Zack - both their full names. I think both look fine. Not keen on Zach or Zac though, they look unfinished.

My son is always known as Zac but his actual name is Isaac. I wanted a “full’ name but wasn’t keen on Zachary.
