Trendy names in London at the moment

This is one for the London MNers. Just curious - what are the current hipster / trendy baby names doing the rounds in London? You know, the ones you hear shouted across the playgrounds of Hackney and Stoke Newington.

I live in Devon, so it’ll probably be a few years before those names make their way down here 😅

Rafferty is one I hear quite a lot. I quite like it tbh

Slothey · 20/10/2025 02:10

Arlo and Lyla.

Arlo and Lyla.

I feel like those are St Albans rather than Stokey!

(I'm London but not trendy)

I’m very close to Stoke Newington and my DC is at primary school. I don’t think the names are as out there as you’re imagining though! It’s usually just Harry, Bobby, Ivy, Iris, Aurora. Rafe is still popular too. There are a few more out there names but they seem to be the exception.

Thanks! So they’re not that different to here then. Lots of Arlos and Lucas and DD has a Rafferty in her nursery class.

Lots of baby boys and girls called Remi in the last few years

sarlavee · 20/10/2025 15:42

Ottilie, Francis, Iris, Gilbert, Virgil, Etta, Cleo, Verity, Ruari, Cecily, Albert, Stella, Louis, Otis. I'm in zone 2/3

Firebird83 · 20/10/2025 19:15

Gilbert! I was wondering if that would make a comeback.

Outside of Virgil and Gilbert, these (as well as the Lyla, Remi and Arlo mentioned before) these are all very normal in my very pedestrian middle England town.

I wonder if it's a sign that the real hipsters can no longer afford London anymore!

Two baby Noras and two Margots here in W London. But also very ethnically diverse so lots of Islamic/Polish/Indian etc names that will never make a chart.
