Too similar?

My sister has just named her daughter Darcy.

I am six months pregnant and have always wanted to call my child Daphne if I have a girl.

Are they too similar?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

its absolutley fine!
love daphne. Don’t be put off

Needmorelego · 17/10/2025 20:19

Well they both begin with D but other than that I'd say they aren't similar.

ChillieChicky · 17/10/2025 20:19

Absolutely fine, lovely names and completely different!

RuthW · 17/10/2025 20:20

No they are not similar. Daphne is lovely.

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 17/10/2025 20:24

Definitely not too similar and (in my view) a very different sound and feel, with Daphne being much nicer. We have an Evie and an Ellie in the same family (cousins) and nobody has remarked on that.

NameChangeForThisQuestionOnly · 17/10/2025 20:26

A different sound and different style so it’s fine. We have cousins with the same name in our family anyway.
Daphne also one of my favourite names!

Intothemystic1 · 17/10/2025 20:39

Thanks all, glad you all think it’s ok!

I love Daphne. Don’t be put off! Smile

Eenameenadeeka · 18/10/2025 07:09

I think it's totally fine:)

We have an Alfie and Albie born three months apart in our family! So no I don’t think they’re too similar xx
