My name has a male and female variant
It was number 36 the year I was given it
It was acceptable in the 80s
It's a bit French
It's also a little bit Essex
Most people shorten it

Is yours Danielle?

Mine is the most common girls' name from the 50/60s - five in my primary school class, and four in senior school!

Bessica1970 · 14/10/2025 17:26

Alexander/Alexandra or Francis/Frances?

My name is very ‘of its time’ 1970’s
It’s become synonymous with hairdressers and one of a pair of Viz characters!

Hated it at school as I was the only one.
it’s become on trend in recent years and I now love the fact hardly anyone my age has it.
Its a palindrome.
and also a first woman!

Eve

Correct. Not just any old first woman!

GoldenRosebee · 14/10/2025 19:03

It's bit dated. It's used in Eastern Europe more, but pretty common in most EU countries. It's name of some members of extended royal family including one dead. It's type of harbor.

Marina?

tartyflette · 14/10/2025 19:28

Mine was quite unusual when i was born (early to mid 50s) and I was the only one in my entire school of 700+ girls.
It went through a short period of popularity in the late 60s/early 70s but it’s now considered a bit naff/dated/American. 😥

Whowahway123 · 14/10/2025 19:33

I went to Manderley

MusicalAnarchy · 14/10/2025 19:34

My name is very dated but I love it.

It was a very popular name.

I was named that because it’s the feminine form of my Grandfather’s name.

My name featured in the title of a song by a hugely popular ‘60’s band and also in a song by a very popular band that started in the ‘80’s.

SeptemberOctober25 · 14/10/2025 19:34

Feels like it's the name of all the girls born in 1987 1988.

Rebecca?. I’ve always loved that name.

thisfilmisboring123 · 14/10/2025 19:36

People always spell it starting with a J
Phonetically it should be but mine is spelt with a G

Tiffany?

Squirrelsnut · 14/10/2025 19:37

It's French.
It's quite unusual.
It's never been popular but I think it's a nice name.
Part of it means little which is ironic because I'm big and tall.
