I have name changed for this as we haven’t told many people in real life.

I am expecting my 3rd child, I have 2 girls Harriet & Beatrice - Hattie & Bea.

I would like some suggestions that go well with their names, I do like a longer more formal first name with a cute nickname option.

Ideas at the moment -

Maxwell ‘Max’

Sebastian ‘Seb/Sebby’
Austin ‘Ozzy’ - probably my favourite

Finding girls harder - I do like Adeline ‘Addie’ but to me it sounds quite similar to Hattie.

Names I can’t use - Evelyn, Florence, Theo.

I like all 3 of your boys' shortlist. Ozzy is a great nickname: could use it for Oscar as well as Austin.

Addie sounds too close to Hattie to me. So for girls I suggest:-

Susannah "Susie"
Serena "Nina"
Georgina "Georgie"
Rosamund "Roz"
Philippa "Pippa"

LivingTheDreamish · 10/10/2025 23:51

Oswald / Ozzy - not sure I would have suggested this without being prompted by Ozzy but I do quite like it!

Freya - not really an obvious nickname though
Eleanor / Nora

mathanxiety · 11/10/2025 04:02

Penelope - Hattie, Bea, and Penny
Louisa - Hattie, Bea, and Lou (or Lulu)
Isobel - Hattie, Bea, and Izzy
Winifred - Hattie, Bea, and Winnie
Emmeline - Hattie, Bea, and Emmy
Lucy - Hattie, Bea, and Lu (or Lulu)
Matilda - Hattie, Bea, and Tilda

Harriet, Beatrice, and Austin would be lovely.
I don't like Sebastian / Sebby as the word sebaceous springs to mind.

I love Maxwell ‘Max’ and Sebastian ‘Seb/Sebby’.
Austin ‘Ozzy’ could definitely grow on me too - and it’s more unusual than your other boy’s ideas. I think you’ve got three great boys ideas there!

I really like Adeline, and I think “Addie” is fine with Hattie. Shame about Evelyn as that was my first thought - “Eve / Evie”

Ideas

Harriet & Beatrice - Hattie & Bea. And

Matilda - Tilly
Amelia - Milly
Annabel - Annie
Penelope - Penny
Imogen - Immy
Georgina - Ginny
Lorelei - Lori
Francesca - Frankie

Thank you all for your suggestions!

Adding Penelope, Edith, Emmeline to the list for girls, think Adeline will be off the list as too close unfortunately!

And for boys I really like Cassian, August, Tobias

Good point! I suppose you could always use Lia for Cecilia?
