What's your opinions on Eliza. Not sure if it's trendy, if so what are some alternatives.
I like how its quite unique (of course not entirely unique but not alot of names don't have Z in them) I think it makes it distinctive.
What's your opinions and is there anything else?

I have an Elizabeth so naturally am fully on board with this.

Ciderapplevinegar · 06/10/2025 22:01

I find it weirdly reptilian, but I'm not sure where that association is coming from. This it's the drawn out e-LIIIIIIZ-uh bit. It's solid though in that it's a classic.

Mumofgirls2017 · 06/10/2025 22:11

its relatively popular, in the top 100 at least if that bothers you so far from unique. However I love it. Other suggestions

Polly
Sadie
Etta
Zelda
Beatrix
Jemima
Eloise
Dorothy
Rosa
Willa
Bonnie
Clara
Tabitha
Pippa
Margot
Mabel
Betsy

i also have an Elizabeth. A beautiful classic English name . i love Eliza . i’ve never met one x

SkaneTos · 06/10/2025 22:22

Eliza is a beautiful name.

LivingTheDreamish · 06/10/2025 22:33

It's a lovely name! Agree the Z makes it stand out, although I think it is a reasonably popular choice.

Zara and Zoe are both nice for the same reason.

captainoctopus · 06/10/2025 22:45

I was doing some research for DH's family tree the other day - looking at a newspaper clipping of a 1940s wedding - and came across a girl named Jubilee!
Now that's a name you don't see every day 😁

I think it's pronounced 'eh-lie-za' not e-liz-a

I like Eliza. 6 yr old DD has a girl called Eliza in her class.

mathanxiety · 07/10/2025 02:13

If you like Z, would you consider

Hephzibah
Tirzah
Keziah
Zipporah
Azalea
Zelda
Zita

Eliza is really lovely though.

I love Eliza.

I know only one, who is about 35.
Apart from those in the family tree, Eliza Doolittle and a girl on a reality TV show who had a sister called Liberty.

Me too, for some reason. I feel like I should like this name more than I do.

I have only ever met one Eliza, she is 30 and a delight! I wouldn’t say it’s a ‘trendy’ name, which is a good thing.

Calliopespa · 07/10/2025 08:03

I love Eliza.

It does seem to be having a moment in the limelight again, if that bothers you. But I'd rather have a nice name than dodge the charts!

Dee51121 · 07/10/2025 08:46

I find it interesting how Elizabeth and Eliza were next to each other on the 2024 rankings in England and Wales. 706 Elizabeths and 702 Elizas, 62nd and 63rd placed respectively. I know of one of those Elizas born last year. I was surprised to find it was a top 100 name though, definitely not a common one to hear

comoatoupeira · 07/10/2025 08:47

I think it's great.
Another option could be Elise?

HelpMeUnpickThis · 07/10/2025 09:37

I know an Elise and a Zena. Both really lovely names (and people).

Pedant5corner · 07/10/2025 09:37

Things can't be quite unique or very unique. @ThePerkyPlayer .
Eliza

There are a lot of El names currently popular.

RuthW · 07/10/2025 12:22

Love it

Eliza is really lovely though.

I love Azalea, I always love Kenzie however that might be associated with boys.
