Elise vs Lovisa??

Hi,
We are choosing between these two names... which one is prettier? 💕

I have learned that there is a jewellery shop called "Lovisa" - does this ruin the name?, which otherwise is an old Swedish name.

*we have Scandi heritage, hence the slightly unusual names...

??? What is a sub? And no-one is intolerant, just pointing out that in this country Lovisa is associated with a shop.

I can assure you the vast majority of people would hear the name Lovisa and think ‘this sounds like Louise, i wonder what the origins of this version are’ - not ‘OMG they’ve named their child after a shop that sells jewellery’.

I can only assume I live somewhere more diverse than most posters, no one would bat an eyelid at this where I live.

@ResusciAnnie OP has started several threads about girls names, including a few on middle names for one name.
I doubt she'll have changed her mind. It's more likely that she didn't want the same comments.

I voted for Lovisa! Very pretty name.
I'm Swedish, though.

I'm aware of the shop Lovisa but to me it is mainly a town in Finland. I assume as a name it is related to Louisa. I don't dislike it, but I think I might like Elise slightly more.

I think the previous poster's point has just been proven.

I voted for Lovisa too - I'm Irish.

Elise is a bit wispy and lacking in gravitas imo.
