Baby girl name.

Hi, I’m pregnant with our last baby, and she is our third girl.

We’re really struggling with names now, as we’ve used the two we both like on baby girl one and two! (If she were a boy it would have been a breeze! 😂)

Our girls are Gia and Iris.

Names we are considering are:

  • Arabella
  • Cassia
  • Ada
  • Sofia
However either we find them wayyy too popular, or aren’t 100% sold on it like we were with our first two.

Any help is appreciated.

Congratulations!
love Gia & Iris - I really like Ada but also noticed the names you suggested all end in an ‘a’ how about a different sound for your last girl.
Do you like
Cleo
Suki
Heidi
Aster

Gia and Iris are great names!

I like all the names on your list.
Ada would be my favourite name from your list.

Gia, Iris and Ada.

Alexandra? It’s not as popular as it was, so there won’t be tons of them around.

LavenderMillie · 28/09/2025 23:44

Annabel? Similar to Arabella but softer sounding.

Nina
Ava
Eva

From your list I think Cassia is perfect! It’s the same vibe as the others but has its own unique sound. Ada kind of blends into the rest, I would get confused between the sibling names if I was an acquaintance. And Sofia and Arabella don’t quite fit the “strong & unique but feminine” vibe of Gia and Iris because they are a bit frillier (arabella) or not unique (Sofia) - whereas I feel like Cassia fits the bill, it’s unique enough but also feels classic. You have great taste in names btw, I like them all! Cassia just feels more right.

Edited

I actually quite like the slightly more severe "r" sound in Arabella as I think it balances out the frilliness of the Annabel/ Annabella/ Arabella type endings.

But I do agree with your suggestions, as I think they are more in keeping with your other dd's names op. I love both Sofia and Arabella but just think they are a different "feel" from names like Iris and Gia.

Another name a bit like Eva or Ada is Edie which I think fits that vibe too, and it is a bit more unusual than Eve/Evie.

elh1605 · 29/09/2025 21:37

Hebe, Iona, Zita, Inez

Terfarina · 29/09/2025 21:41

A PP suggested Lara & Lyra - both beautiful names that go with your other daughters'.

Why don't you wait til she is born and see what name suits her. If you can't decide ask her sisters to help - we did this with our third and it was a great way of encouraging bonding, though the elder two were 6&8, it might not work with younger ones.

AmberBeaker · 29/09/2025 21:47

Cool names. What about

Florence
Edie
Esme

Lovemyones · 29/09/2025 22:04

Since you already have an 'a' ending name and an 's' i'd go with a separate ending name
Something like Juniper or Joelle

Kittyninja267 · 29/09/2025 22:07

I think the 2 names you already have would go nicely with a one syllable name like
Bea,
Tess, or
May
Or a 2 syllable name avoiding another 'A' sound at the end like
Cassie rather than Cassia OR Connie.
Either way you will find a name and it only matters what you think.
Edit to add Beth and Libby just popped in to my mind as well.

BeTidyPlumPombear · 29/09/2025 23:05

I love Gia and Iris! I think Ada is a beautiful name❤️

StewkeyBlue · 29/09/2025 23:07

Cassia is great!

JazzyBBBG · 29/09/2025 23:09

Cassia is lovely,

Not Ada, say it with a Brummie accent it will put you off forever.

Cora

CrazyCricketLady · 30/09/2025 07:25

As a nursery worker and have had over 500 children, I've had a lot of Sofia's. Not a single Arabella, 1 Ada. I'm not sold on Cassia but love Kezzia I have 3 girls and this is one of theirs. I couldn't go with a name of a child I had, had in work so ended up looking at ancient Roman names, ancient Greece names, biblical names and medieval and old English name to find mine. My forever favourite name that I didn't go with is Galatea. I didn't use it because I know it would have been shortened to Taya or Gal and I like neither.
At the moment I'm really in to
Adara
Avrin
Louelle
Maiden
And I've never had a single one of those. I stopped at 3 girls and a boy.

ACR7 · 30/09/2025 08:18

I like the names on your list. For what it’s worth my daughter is 16months and I haven’t seen a load of babies at the groups with those names so don’t think they are over popular. My daughters name is Eva and I was aware there’s an influx of takes on that name at the minute but she’s named after my nanna and we love the name so it doesn’t really matter to us. Don’t worry about popularity, just choose a name you really like.

PloddingAlong21 · 30/09/2025 09:00

I had a boy but my girl names were Naomi (not met any kids with this name for yeaaaaars) and Aria

Supermumtwo · 30/09/2025 13:32

Freya is a lovely name and very rarely used..

Jesslestrade · 30/09/2025 14:10

I have a nearly two year old Ada, we got it from the song Ada by the national as it was mine and my partners favourite band! Her twin brother on the other hand was a nightmare to name and it took
us so long haha.

Peachpink · 30/09/2025 14:47

I think Sofia and Arabella have become incredibly popular and Ada is becoming more popular. Cassia is still quite unusual. All lovely names though.

I love the sound of Gia and Iris together - I get Audrey Hepburn era film star vibes.

Other suggestions that I think match nicely:

Cora
Alba
Clementine (Clemmie)
Esmae
Lydia
Clarabel
