Mica for a boy?

That´s what I seem to have ended up with...

We live abroad, and Michael has always been called Mica here. He is now 6, and we´ll move to the UK in a few months.

He resists being caled Michael, and always writes his name as Mica.

I think it´s fine, but am wondering how this would go down in a UK primary?

would it be very odd?

Unusual yes but not odd, it's nice!

there are some very unusual names in the UK at the moment. I'm sure no one would bat an eyelid at Mica.

glad to hear it.

There is a Misha in my dd's class. She is a girl. This annoys me inordinately. I want to holler at her mother "don't you know that Mischa is a diminutive of Michael in slavic countries you ignoramus?"
But I don't.

So I would welcome you with open arms, personally

i went to school with a Mica [pronounced Misha] who was a girl.
don't think it'll be a problem though, there's a singer called Mika who's male isn't there?

Chandon · 02/06/2008 19:02

there may me a message there, as Mika´s song is called "relax" , so I guess I´ll just do that
